Yeah it’s definitely not. In 2014 Rodgers essentially got us in position to at least represent in the SB, had it not been for our ST and then our D just utterly collapsing.
He at minimum should had 2 visits with 1 Win. Seattle nearly knocked off NE, so I think it’s possible we had a 50/50 chance had we not goofed up.

And MM had a part of it. Playing Not To Lose as Rodgers called it was what we did when we got the ball after the INT. Ironic. But back 4 seasons earlier Sam Shields picked the Bears late when they were trying to tie the game in the Championship game. There was no need to run it back because all we had to do was kneel. But in Seattle we get a late pick and instead of trying to bring it back for another 10-20 yards Peppers tells him to go down. Seattle is a curse for us there. I hope this year we break it.

Off topic - that 2014 NFCCG loss I pin on MM. In the end he played not to lose. That demoralizes a team. In that game, the team had dominated for 3 and 1/2 quarters, only to suddenly stop attacking. That is still the most heart-braking loss I've seen since following the Packers, and there have been a fair share of them.

Certainly there were plenty of mistakes to go around. But with like 7 minutes left the team was asked to stop trying to win, and instead avert a loss. The results were predictable. MM shut down his team with enough time still on the clock.

If I'm a team even remotely thinking of Rodgers in 2025, I'm sitting him down and stating "You're coming in to play QB. You're not in a GM role. We aren't hiring any coaches you want (we have a staff here) and we are not bringing in any previous teammates on your suggestion" More than likely he would be offended and not be interested which would be fine. Sorry, but 2024 performance and the amount of toxicity he brings to the table should strip him of his ability to call any shots. Probably won't because some owners are stupid and desperate...

The games I’ve watched Rodgers he’s been good. I also wouldn’t call him a “game changing” talent like Lamar or Pat etc. I think Father Time is catching up with him very gradually. While he’s still a Top 50% of the league QB, I don’t even know if he would make the Top 10. Maybe you could argue the intangibles of experience get him close, but for me his production to salary is about correct. Rodgers He’s about right as a $37.5M yearly guy. He’s no longer a force that can dictate league high $$ or dictate who hires who. I’d say he’s approaching replaceable with a Top 2 choice at QB, which is about where the Jets could pick in the next draft.

If I’m the Jets? I’d trade Rodgers and Davante for a Day1 and Round 2 draft selections, plus a few Day 3’s to rebuild. Then I’d silently tank into a Top 2-3 selection and go after Sanders or Ward. Take my licks developing and washing and Sunk $ in 2025 and try to get back to relevant in 2026-2027.

I agree. I think he's done after this year. He can't move around like he use to in or out of the pocket, even though his arm is still strong. It's just time for him to go. Now where he goes - who knows? Maybe another darkness retreat and he can figure things out.

In retrospect, Gluten robbed the Jets by getting a 2nd round pick for him. Rodgers doesn't have any trade value left.

That one hurt. The blowout post season losses to Atlanta and SF were painful but at least there was closure.

Adams only has like an 8m dead cap if he’s cut after this season and something like a 38m cap hit if he’s kept on his current contract. So that would be an obvious restructure candidate. And of course he was just traded for a conditional 3rd in the first place.

As I understand it Rodgers has a ~25m cap hit next season but nearly 50m in dead cap if he’s gone. Then a bunch of void years with a cap hit of 21m, 21m, 14m, and 7m from now until 2029. I think he still has some left in the tank but considering his age and contract he has next to no trade value at this point IMO.

I think the Jets would be lucky to get a late day 2 pick for BOTH of them and that’s probably best case scenario.

Rodgers restructured his contract and his Dead Cap TOTAL to wash him is $49M (using a Post June trade or release)

Keep in mind his 2023-2025 deal had a $75m guarantee there’s 0 way to exceed that and he’s almost 2 years into a 3 year deal.

If Rodgers agrees to a trade (he would because they could bench him and a post Jun release is identical $$) He would get paid a substantial overlap and it’s highly likely it would involve a new contract at reasonable $ similar to his current deal.
