The Packers are now at a 52 man limit after cutting Ricky Jean Francois. they have 5 DL and today the Cincinnati Bengals released DL Christian Ringo, so my thought is that GB brings back a younger DL in Ringo as the 6th DL. Just a thought!

If that is the plan why did TT take such a circuitous route? Why not just cut RJF at final cut down & keep Ringo on the 53? Would've saved the guaranteed salary to RJF.

I'm squarely in the confused camp. RJF has always been a pros pro. Team first, hard worker that does his job. Nothing spectacular but he's been in the league a long time for a reason. There has to be something in the background we're not privy to because this is making me scratch my head all kinds of bad. Ted has pulled a lot of good strings this off-season but this one has most of us waiting for answers. Weird. Just weird.

Just a thought

They wanted to give dial a week to see if he was really the right fit. They liked what they saw. He and rjf were redundant especially with how good Clark looked. If Ringo is the guy he fits more a desire with his inside pass rush but until they knew for sure what they had in dial keeping rjf made sense. How many downs did each play last game?

They must like what they're seeing from Adams and Dial in practice and feel like 5 DL is enough when they're rarely playing more than 2 at any given time.

The Packers haven't practiced so far this week with Dial only participating in a single one since joining the Packers so far though.

That wouldn't make any sense as Thompson had the chance to keep Ringo over RJF on the initial 53 but decided to keep the veteran at that point, fully guaranteeing his base salary of $1.25 million.

RJF played six snaps vs. the Seahawks while Dial was inactive.

Christian Ringo got cut by the Bengals and had to go through waivers. My guess is that with Dial now in house, the Packers want Ringo back to provide some interior pass rush ability. RJF will probably be let go if a waiver claim on Ringo is successful.

What's the upside in cutting Ricky Jean? He looked good in his spots so far. While I think they kept too many cb's it's hard to have too much depth at d line. Montravius Adams got hurt right away so it's virtually impossible for him to have made such an awesome impression in camp that the Packer brass couldn't wait to get him on the field and dump Ricky Jean. This is one of the wierdest moves in quite some time.

Yeah I would think that cutting a Running back who might not play at all this season would make more sense than cutting a DL who looks to grab atleast several snaps a game.

Adam Pankey promoted.

I'm done speculating.

Adam Pankey will be elevated to the 53, per a Twitter account. The JSO's Aaron Nagler has the link in his column this morning.

This, perhaps, signals that Bryan Bulaga's injury may keep him sidelined a while longer?

Let's hope not.

I think Dial was the reason we got rid of RJF and if that's so I'm glad cause I'd rather have an average guy who is younger over an average guy whose older even if its only 3 years. Out with the old in with the young.

Packers signed G Darrell Greene to the Practice squad to take Pankeys place. Seems like some possible concerns with the OL depth?

It wouldn't shock me with the way injuries seem to play out and be reported by the Packer FO, if Bulaga's injury isn't more severe than originally thought.

I'm guessing something is not right on that offensive line. I thought RJF was a decent enough guy and vet player to give us some snaps. Some of these young guys didn't show a whole lot like they were ready. But RJF doesn't play offensive line.
