This ridiculous thread should be deleted. Just like Thompson and McMuffin should be deleted tonight. Neither should be allowed in the building ever again.

What are the Vikings playing for? You really think they are contenders right now?
LOL....for a guy who thinks the Packers are contenders you have a funny way of looking at things. The Vikings are now 2 games (technically with the win over the Packers a 2 1/2 game tie breaker) ahead of the Packers and if the season ended today, the Vikings are #1 wild card team. How are they not contenders in your world?

And are only 1.5 games behind in the division race with another game to play against the Bears. The Vikings are right in the thick of the race.

Well if you thought the Packers were before last night... I’m wondering what your rationale is behind this question?
The Packers are playing like trash. The Vikings 7 point win over them was anything but impressive. They now hit the road for NE and Seattle. I doubt they win either. I expect them to be tied with Green Bay in 2 weeks.

I’ll be rooting for the Vikings to beat Seattle to help Green Bay, but I doubt they’ll do it.

So even if the Vikings lose both games and are tied with the Packers in two weeks, the Packers will be contenders, but not the Vikings, even though the Vikings hold the tie breaker against the Packers.

I was responding to a Viking fan saying the Packers have nothing to play for. So because there’s a chance they could miss the playoffs and lose out on a higher draft pick means they shouldn’t try?

If that’s the case, same goes for the Vikings. They are not a lock for the playoffs at all with that schedule.

The main point here is if the Packers win out, they’ve got a shot. That statement can’t be argued.

Honestly, I kind of stopped reading your posts, but I did look at the Vikings schedule before making my post and if I was a Vikings fan and behind my team, I would know both the upcoming games against the Pats and Seahawks are totally winnable, as are the following 3. More importantly, I would know that my teams destiny was in their own hands. The Packers on the other hand, not only have to win out, but have to rely on other teams to win or lose.

Nothing I saw yesterday tells me the Vikings have a chance to win in NE.

It's long past time to stop looking at this team through rose colored glasses. They are not a good team. The Packers have the same record as the CLEVELAND BROWNS. And as crazy as it sounds, if you're looking at the talent of these two teams outside of quarterback, you're taking Cleveland's every day of the week. It's going to take a few years for Gutey to clean up Teddy's mess, and there's no guarantee that he will. Yes, looking at our schedule we could easily finish 4-1 and maybe upset the Bears, but the teams we play the rest of the year are looking at us and saying "This is a very winnable game."

1. Saints

3. Bears
4. Cowboys
5. Vikings (6-4-1)
6. Redskins (6-5)
7. Seahawks (6-5)
8. Panthers (6-5)
9. Eagles (5-6)
10. Packers (4-6-1)

Vikings (6-4-1) - Patriots, Seahawks, Dolphins, Lions, Bears - 7-8-1 or 8-7-1 in worst case.
Redskins (6-5) - Eagles, Giants, Jaguars, Titans, Eagles. Will definitely lose all remaining games without a QB. All we n
Seahawks (6-5) - Vikings, 49ers x 2, Chiefs, Cardinals - 10-5
Panthers (6-5) - Bucs, Browns, Saints x 2, Falcons - 8-8 (It may come to wire as they have lost against Falcons earlier)
Eagles (5-6) - Skins, Cowboys, Rams, Texans, Skins - 7-9
Packers (4-6-1) - Cardinals, Falcons, Bears, Jets, Lions - 8-7-1 (Assuming we beat Falcons. We really can't lose to Falcons)
.

I expect the season to finish like:

1. Saints
2. Rams
3. Bears
4. Cowboys
5. Seahawks (10-5)
6. Packers & Vikings - 8-7-1
7. -
8. Panthers (8-8)
9. Eagles (7-9)
10. Redskins (6-10)

If we end up finishing even points with Vikings, who goes through?

You forgot the Bears.

Bears (8-3) Giants, Rams, Packers, Niners, Vikings. They could easily lose 3 of them. All MN has to do is tie them in wins. Unless of course the Packers are totally toast, then they won't lose 3.

Even if the Bears lost 3 games, the Vikings would need to only lose one more game, which is pretty unrealistic given their schedule.

Good post. This is just one example of how if the Packers were to win their remaining 5 games, they would be in the playoffs. This season is far from over.
