#26 pick of 2016 draft, 3rd QB taken. Two partial seasons in Denver, 2016 rookie year, injured by Packers during 2017 preseason and missed most of the year. Out of football this year.
Extended tryout coming? Offseason camp body to push Kizer? Just a look-see?

ETA: No cite, radio guys mentioned it.

What happened to Boyle? They think he's better than Kizer? I don't see why this move makes sense. Kizer has some ability, he needs more experience and better coaching. I'd love Van Pelt to come back and work with him. I'd say the same about Boyle as well.

Per CBS Sports:

Lynch worked out for the Packers on Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

It's not clear if the Packers took a look at Lynch for any other reason than they wanted to evaluate him as a prospect, but it does at least lead to more speculation that the Packers are considering shutting down starter Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season. Lynch remains a free agent for now, but if the Packers do decide to call it a season for Rodgers, Lynch is presumably the favorite to take his place on the roster.

If you reference the link, you'll see back in September he had a tryout for the Bills,,,,,,They elected to keep Nathan Peterman over him.
That couldn't have been too impressive of a tryout......

same thing was said about goff. not saying lynch has anything but a change of scenery may make all the difference for him with someone. he's only started 4 games.
There is a reason he has only appeared in 4 NFL games. His passer rating in those games is in the 70's. Lots of room for improvement though. I will give him that. :)

Whether they sign Paxton Lynch or not, what I am enjoying, is seeing that Gute and the Packers aren't sitting on their hands. I look at all the moves they made in the last 2 weeks with the PS, IR, and 53 man roster and this is a sign of a GM who's wheels are still turning.

Maybe none of these new guys amount to anything, but Gute is adding more players and more depth to carry and evaluate in the off season and beyond.

With Clark just being placed on IR, another spot for another player.

Lynch stunk in the games I saw him play for Denver, and he had Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryus Thomas to throw to.

Call me not excited by this.

Rams cut Pharoh Cooper today. That might be a guy worth picking up. He was a Pro Bowl return specialist last year and spent most of this season on IR with an ankle injury.

Boyle is currently still on the roster but it might be possible he doesn't make the 53 with a new head coach in town next season. The Packers taking a look at Lynch is most likely just paying due diligence.

Van Belt being brought back as the offensive coordinator might make Rodgers happy but I don't expect it to happen.

I actually brought Van Pelt up right after MM was fired as a possible new OC. At the time I was thinking this might be the bridge needed between AR and the new HC. But the more I have thought about it, I doubt it happens. First, I think the Packers will have more qualified choices to choose from and probably more importantly, Gute may view this as a step backwards.

While I still prefer that whoever is hired as OC, they assume most of the control of what the Offense is doing, including play calling, I don't think AVP will be the next OC.
