Hold on. All I initially said was that it was not realistic to count on Jace as a quality starter at TE next year. If you agree with that, then I'm seriously confused about our recent discourse. Not disappointed mind you, it was fun, but very confused.
I was more responding to the claim that it's rare for TE's to be effective starters in year 2. Wasn't talking about Jace specifically.
In regards to Jace, it's hard to say what he'll be doing because he didn't play much. What I do remember is him getting good reviews in training camp, players talking about how he plays with an edge/aggression, and I remember his last few games. I thought he played really well his last few games, in a variety of ways. He didn't get the ball much, but he got open a decent amount. Showed some good blocking. To me, he looks like he has more juice than what he tested. Then to round it all out, Gutey has really praised Jace. More than ordinary, imo.
I wasn't really a Sternberger fan during the draft, can't say I was real happy with the pick. I've liked what I've seen on tape in GB though, as limited as it was. I think it's fair to think he could've had a year similar to Hooper's rookie year if he had been healthy.
