Interesting. I just looked at Packers.com and there is still no announcement.
I wouldn't be surprised if they announce it tomorrow morning with the press conference happening shortly after.

I just spent the first 45 minutes of my work day reading the first 9 pages of these posts.

45 Whole minutes, huh? Try being a Moderator, you learn to read fast, and just slow down for the typical characters who need real monitoring.

Let's give the man a chance - it will be interesting to see what Arog has to say about this hiring since reports will be asking him if he was the one that approved this hiring.

  • Mike LaFleur, SF WR/Pass-Game Coordinator
  • Mike McDaniel, SF Run-Game Coordinator
  • Rich Scangarello, SF QB Coach
  • Pat O'Hara, TEN QB Coach

Just curious to know if these coaches are still under contract where they are now. If so, how would LaFleur be able to get them?

Their current head coaches would have to allow it

I've heard people bring up a Kizer LaFleur reunion from Notre Dame. Everett Golson was actually the starting QB the year LaFleur was with the Irish.

Yeah, unless LaFleur actually told Brian Kelly to recruit Kizer (which I doubt), then I'd call it inaccurate to say Kizer is his guy. Course I am a bit interested to see if Kizer's game would change if LaFleur got in his ear.

Guys.

Whitt isn't leaving.

He's pretty well thought of in NFL circles.

I love this move. LeFluer was my original first choice. Then when Adam Gase got into the conversation, he was a close second.

I have to highly disagree with nepotism in the workplace regardless if they might be good at their job.

Well I’m not sure why a team would give 84 million in guaranteed money to a quarterback that sucks with the money on the line and can’t even get basically the same team that Case Keenum got to within a miracle play of the NFC Championship to the playoffs. But hey. What do I know???
And Case did what this year? 18 TD's, 15 Ints. Yeah.

Well you can figure that out for yourself can’t you? Maybe you can’t who knows. But everything I said prior to this was all FACTS.

The Packers first choice was McDaniels.
McDaniels first choice was the Packers.
The Packers would want to retain certain coaches from the previous staff.
McDaniels was NOT interested in any other opening not named Green Bay.
The Browns nor McDaniels were ever really in communication for that job opening.
If McDaniels didn’t get the job it would be because he and the Packers couldn’t come to an agreement...rather it was money, coaching staff, personnel decisions?? Or all three??? I’m not sure but I’ll find out trust me. ILL stand by my previous statement that Lafleur was NOT the first choice.

All those things are true.

Pretty much everyone in the press, beat reporters/writers and peeps from ESPN and NFL Network are saying LaFleur was the first option after his interview. Some players who were in Washington when he was there said he's a leader, a winner and a high character guy.

Those last few things might have screwed McDaniels over after what he did to the Colts last season. Perhaps he bombed the interview.

Being an Xs and Os guy is obviously very important, but having the ability to lead a team is so too. That might be where Murphy and Gute felt LaFleur had a clear edge.
