He did, to people that had no business knowing in the first place. We all do that at various times in our lives.

Everyone that mattered, knew.
So if everyone that mattered knew, why was he fined?? he didn't even wear masks on sidelines. Those were for vaccinated people

and it may not bother you but some have huge issues with it.

People really need to get over it at this point. It’s months old and clearly whatever Rodgers did use worked because he’s healthy enough to win 2 MVPs.

Honesty people have just always hated Rodgers. There are just some people out there who can’t stand him and it will always be that way. Tons of people loathe those that are intelligent.

You also don't seem to want to acknowledge that it wasn't as foreseeable 2 years ago, as you want to make it sound. The guy just contemplated retirement, sitting out a season or forcing a trade....twice in the last 9 months, that doesn't even take into consideration his age and his 2 seasons before Love.

Rodgers never contemplated retirement or threatened to not play for the Packers anymore before Love was drafted.

I haven't seen anyone online or in this forum go anywhere near comparing Rodgers to Watson, but nice try Cap.

I was obviously exaggerating to get my point across.

He has shown up for OTA's in the past, but for some reason he has decided that he doesn't need them anymore. Last year, seems his whole WR group decided to follow suit in support of him and didn't show up. Meanwhile, keep an eye on other teams and who shows up for their OTA's. Yes, they are voluntary, but there is a reason the team incentivizes them for players with bonuses for showing up, the team would like to see them attend. The OTA's are all about building team chemistry and beginning to get in synch with new players during all the non-contact drills. As new players join the Packers, I can see a bigger divide between them and the almighty Rodgers forming. The younger guys, hoping to get their first glimpse of him when he eventually is contractually required to show up.

It seems we have to agree to disagree on the importance of Rodgers showing up for OTAs. As mentioned repeatedly In consider it to be a non-issue.

I don’t believe that and if we could get our personnel group together to answer that question I’m about 92.5% sure you are wrong.

It was foreseeable that Love ends up not playing any significant snaps over his rookie deal though as I and some others even posted that immediately after he was drafted.

I think that many Fans will stick to their position once Rodgers is gone. Great athlete, non appealing as a leader.

The problem is that many fans don't consider him a great quarterback because they don't like him as a person.

But, just how foreseeable was it last off-season when Rodgers was hinting at holding out or wanting to be traded or retiring. Ditto for this past off season.

As mentioned above my point is that Rodgers never did any of those things before Love was drafted.

Oh, I know people have huge issues with it. People have all sorts of hangups over covid and i'm not getting into them.

He was fined for not wearing it, that makes some people happy. But the team and the league have both said everyone knew his status.

Rodgers did not win the 2020 and 2021 MVPs before Love was drafted.

True, but it would have been completely unrealistic to expect Love to beat out Rodgers for the starting job even if #12 only performed at the same level as in 2019.

You know this for certain how?

It is interesting how you choose to use the post drafting of Love to discuss only certain things, but not those things that actually support the drafting of Love. At least the conversation is back to what actually matters when talking about the decision of drafting Love in 2020. Which would only focus on what was known about Rodgers, The Packers and Love before the selection.

I doubt that you are going to get many, if anyone, to say that so far the draft pick has worked as planned. Then again, that is the case with many draft picks each year. Either the player isn't the guy you expected, the reasons for drafting him changed or both.

The problem is that many fans don't consider him a great quarterback because they don't like him as a person.
Again, you are making up arguments that don't really exist, by equating people being critical of his off field behavior, with them criticizing his talent as a QB. Very few people don't understand just how good of a QB he is. I for one have said it many times...."Great QB, not a fan of his personality over the last few years."

There is just one question I do have and we will probably never know the answer. He is a great player, but how much does his personality negatively or positively effects his teammates? No doubt his play makes the team much better, I'm just not so sure about the personality part. Discussion for another day, when we are both old and rocking on the back porch. ;)

I don't even think Gute, MLF or anyone on this earth envisioned Love beating Rodgers out for the job. The reason Love was drafted, besides being a great bargain in Gute's mind, was to eventually replace an expensive older player, that may have retired or declined enough that his salary wasn't worth keeping him around.

Rodgers was pretty outspoken about his desire to play into his 40s and to remain with the Packers for all of his career before Love was drafted.

In my opinion there was actually nothing to support the selection of Love.

Again, you are making up arguments that don't really exist, by equating people being critical of his off field behavior, with them criticizing his talent as a QB. It seems you have skipped a lot of posts on that topic on this site.

Once again, at the point of the 2020 draft there was no talk of Rodgers considering retirement. In addition Gutekunst should have known he wasn't declining as well.

Rodgers isn’t perfect (nobody is) but, when you’re the most important player on fans’ favorite team, there will be those that assume anything short of perfection means you have character flaws. It’s always consoling to be able to point to just one person as the cause of problems cause then the fix is easy, just fix the one player.
Good point Sunshine. That's why, in most cases, firing a HC doesn't really solve the problem, but someone has to pay for a team's failing. Ironically (and just my opinion) that wasn't the case in GB when MM was fired. He had just grown stale.

Back to Rodgers, a lot of people blamed him for the loss to the Niners because he missed a wide open Lazard on GB's last play. That's just nuts.

Ridiculous post. Before around 2018 we never saw posters here display any animous about Rodgers other than the few Favrists who couldn't get over their manlove for Favre.

Agree that drafting Love was a turning point for Rodgers. And while I don't like how he reacted I don't blame him for being aggravated. It was a huge vote of no confidence by Gluten. And then Rodgers wins two straight MVPs. I'm not crazy about Rodgers as a person. He is a great QB though and arguably one of the best to play the game.

Yeah until Love was drafted, there were virtually no posts dissing Rodgers.

If they knew , why was he fined?
did they give him special privileges?

I don't know if anyone on the team or in the FO knew Rodgers was not vaccinated. If they did know, it's hard for me to believe that everyone was ok with it.

At this point it probably doesn't matter. Well over 90% of players and coaches were vaccinated at first, and the others probably have received the shot or they've had covid and have some immunity. I'm disappointed that Rodgers lied about it, but he apologized and it's best now to just move on.

I recall it was for going to a party in violation of the non-vaccinated player policy the league had implemented.

I'm not going to expand anymore on that and in fact this entire thread has now gone on about 3 pages too long. It is in its 3rd recycle of the same ol' same ol'.

LOL! I'm glad you added 10% for the fair-weather fans who love Rodgers when we win, and turn on him when we lose. Human nature man. I wish I could say I've never done that, but it wouldn't be true.

I guess I fall in the 30% category - but up until the Love pick and Rodgers over-the-top reaction, I didn't have much of an an opinion on him as a person. I only knew he was a generational talent at QB and was glad he played for GB. And why should I care about him outside football? I mean unless he kills someone or suddenly becomes Deshaun Watson, who cares what he does when he's not playing football? I don't know the guy and probably never will. I don't have time to care about wealthy people I'll never meet and their idiosyncratic ways.

Finally Rodgers really WAS slighted by Gluten with the Love draft pick. I don't blame him for being pissed. He just overreacted and kept us all wondering until TC last year if he was done with GB. Early on, he could have easily held a presser saying why he was pissed, that he either was looking for a trade or for improved communication and made a decision. I don't know if he likes doing that stuff, keeping everyone guessing If that's his idea of making people pay, it was childish.

But hey he's back, he has two straight MVPs and he's on OUR team! Gluten is doing good things with personnel, WR will be his biggest challenge. But we'll get there. The team has a lot of talented players. Look on the bright side. We could be Bears' fans or, shudder, Vikings' fans. That's unthinkable.

because he tested positive and it was out in the open and the league had to do something IMO. once public perception kind of turned the NFL just did away with everything and were likely happy to do so. They stopped testing requirements in the midst of the highest case rates and counts we've had in this country in January

I mean the league has said they had a meeting with Rodgers and his health team about his treatments and status and they didn't allow it before the season even started. So every time they saw him without a mask after, they could have done something and didn't. The did when he tested positive and it all came out. I have a feeling that happened a lot all over the league, but of course that is just my thought. I mean we had people that were sick and worked in hospitals and were told to show up unless you can't get out of bed. I still remember the conversation with one of our nurses who was at a wedding and found out her friend tested positive and she was not feeling well. Basically, keep your mouth shut and get in here. Big provider in the Fox Valley. Exceptions were made all over the place and at every level.

Others might, but i'm not getting excited about a football player who is playing football of all things with other football players doing football things and then doesn't don a mask while sitting on the sidelines to take it off and go back in and do football things. Especially one that is tested daily just to enter the building.

and the Packers have said they were aware of his status from the start, so unless they're lying, I don't know what else to say about.

The team and the league have both said they knew and Rodgers was being tested daily as part of the unvaccinated player pool just to enter the building. I don't think they have him do that if they didn't know.

That's a good point. Everyone was getting tested. The only time someone is at risk of passing it to someone is if they have it. And then it makes sense that the team knew Rodgers wasn't vaccinated. He eventually did test positive and missed the KC game.

Hopefully that's done. People are going to keep getting infected, that's the new normal. But people can't be forced to get a vaccine. It's stupid to not get one IMO, but there are other security measures in place to protect the team and coaches.

I've morphed over the years. I've always thought he was a great player from about 2010 through 2015 and really liked his demeanor. It was around 2015-2016 that I think he changed as a player. The national media started the mantra that his TD/Int ratio and overall effectiveness made him one of the all time greats. I've always sensed that changed him perhaps personally as well as professionally. I started seeing his stubbornness and slowness to adapt on the field more clearly. Imo, he became a lot less likable after that point. After Love was drafted in 2020, he just became that much harder to like. His overall play has been significantly better the past three seasons than the four seasons prior to Love imo. He still has been unable to make the winning plays in the 4th quarter of tough playoff games. After last season, I'm just ready to move on from him, give Love the chance to take over and rely more on defense, field position and a heavier emphasis on the running game. I'm Rodgers weary I guess.
