onside kicks and special teams in general

Really no excuse for that pitiful onside kick yesterday. It seems to me that you should have 5 "sure hands" on the field when it is onside kick time. One in the middle, two on each side and two between the middle and the outside. Now that was a good onside kick, but if you had a hands guy in the middle; he should be able to run up and snag the ball just before it crosses the ten yard mark.

i don't know what exactly happened, but one of them up there looked like he had a plan, to take out the first guy there, to make it a clean recovery for the next guy.

I don't know who had what responsibility but the guy going for the ball looked like he maybe wanted to block and then decided to make a recovery attempt. I forget who they were, Amos and Sullivan maybe?

Either there was no coaching on that scenario, which I find hard to believe, or someone wasn't clear on their responsibility.
