The way it is blowing and raining right now...and it is expected to keep up through the start of the game... I have a hard time seeing either team score 24 points.

Honestly.. right now stuff is crashing around .. the power is flickering on and off.. It is more gusty than it's been in a very long time. Punters ..hell every phase of the kicking game should be wildly entertaining later today when the teams line up. Passing from both QBs will be a joke.

I foresee a smash mouth slug-fest in sub hurricane conditions. Should be a crazy game. If it stays like this just tossing the coin at the beginning of the game should be a challenge.

We can move the game to GB, its pretty nice in Wisconsin at the moment (relatively speaking of course)

It's blowing like crazy right now. The wind is supposed to be 50 mph at game time. With the expected included rain I believe that Momma Nature has decided that Aaron Rodgers will not be a factor with or without his bum leg. This game will be all about the run and hanging on to the ball. Even the great man that is AR would be foolish to throw for more than 10 yards at a clip. GB's hope rests in Lacey's ability to beat the Seattle run Defense.

Forecast for game time does not seem that bad... 50º, light rain and winds at 16mph. However... appears it may be gusty at times from this blurb I found at KOMO news site in Seattle.

Windy weather continues across most of Western Washington this morning. Right now there is a HIGH WIND WARNING up for most of the Puget Sound area. We will feel gusts up to 60mph for a few more hours. The warning is expected to be dropped after 8am.
The strong winds will taper off today, but it will still be gusty at game time. If you are going to the Hawks game, prepare for a mix of showers, gusty winds, and even sunbreaks. The rest of the day will be a similar mix. Mostly cloudy skies with sunbreaks and showers. Highs today will be in the low 50s in many areas.

PFF rated the packers the best pass protecting O line in the league and 3rd overall. No ones line is superior to ours, in the fact that our system calls for pass protection more than run blocking. I wouldnt trade our O line for any other

I believe Packers OL is one of the teams strengths (and underrated)... hard to imagine after watching Packers OL last several years.

They have their work cut out for them today, if Packers want to win this game they will have to play well today.

Gameday where I am at already... 2 hours ahead of East Coast time... game starts at 5pm here.

Vamos Packers... hope they can bring back a win, but I can see why Seattle are 7 point favorites in the game. Lacy and OL will have to have a big game and run defense will have to limit Lynch´s success today.

Here is hoping to a good, injury free game, good luck to the Packers.

If the Seahawks win, good luck to you in the Super Bowl... I will be pulling for Seahawks vs either AFC opponent.

Haven't you heard? We don't have a chance lol

You're right, rodgers and the line have to play the game they have struggled to play against the NFLs top defenses this year

http://www.packers.com/media-center...-line-up/2ee6c08c-9a88-4518-b005-3a83312f2176http://www.packersnews.com/story/sp...peppers-savors-shot-at-elusive-ring/21786673/http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...defense-against-marshawn-lynch-russell-wilsonMost of the attention has been focused on Aaron Rodgers and the offense against Seattle's defense but today the Packers must get returns from their big defensive investments of recent years. They've got 3 former first round draft picks and one of the most high profile free agents of recent seasons on their line and linebacking and these are the guys who must make the plays to change or save the game.

Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers must be the leaders and playmakers their reputations and contracts make them out to be. Mike Neal, Mike Daniels, Nick Perry and Datone Jones need to bring their game of the year to support the big guns.

If these six bring it today the Packers can slow or stop Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch and keep the Packers in position to win and go on to the Super Bowl. Sack and tackle, boys. Sack and tackle.

Can ESPN slobber over the Seahawks more than they already are?

They've got a lot of slobber so build an ark.

ESPN wasn't around in the day but I remember a lot of slobbering over the 1968 Colts going in to Super Bowl III against the Jets. Greatest team of all time and 19 point favorite lost 16-7.

Not that any of this will impact what happens on the field, but some things about the betting line are not always well understood. The sportsbooks are interested in the "rake."Ideally, they want the betting to be about even between both teams. The rake is what their take is on the betting. Let's just call it a handling fee, commission, whatever. If the betting gets too heavy on one side they stand to lose big if that team should prevail. Of course, they may win big if it goes the other way. They don't build billion dollar casino hotels complexes because they're foolish. The rake is a sure thing and it needs to be higher than what they stand to lose if the wrong team wins. Their preferred scenario is to have an even dollar amount of bets on both teams. The more money that's bet in total (evenly) the better. It's also why the betting line will often be set at an impossible X and one-half point.

The Packers have historically drawn a lot of bets from loyal fans who somehow think that it is a show of faith in their team, like voting for them to win. The sportsbooks have long known of this phenomena. It can have an impact on the betting line, So it is not uncommon to see the books adjust the line to attract bettors to the other side to even the amount that's bet. It also depends who they or any team, for that matter, are playing.

When the odds are shown in the paper they may not accurately represent the true betting line. It's a starting point. It is why the betting line can vary from one sportsbook to another. How each individual sportsbook adjusts their betting line will be affected by how much is being bet in their establishment. Fifty Packer fans betting $20 dollars on their team will be offset by one whale betting $50k on the other team. And there are folks that will bet $1 million or more if they see the betting line favors one team or the other. It's not how many people bet one way or the other, it's how much.

Sorry for the missive, but the bottom line is that the betting line has one purpose: To profit the sportsbook. They really don't care who wins the games. They are only fans of making money for themselves. So don't get too caught-up in how much they "like" your team.

Why yes they can.

I do my best to tune it all out, but one thing that's really starting to grate on my nerves is the Kam Chancellor BAM-BAM let's-send-the-guy-to-the-hospital worship.

Chancellor is a great safety there's no doubt, but I also notice that one reason why he cracks ribs and lays guys out is because he leads with his helmet a LOT. He gets up a head of steam with his 230 lb frame and then lowers his helmet and rams into guys the way that Donnie Shell used to do. Helmet-to-helmet hits and leading with the crown of the helmet are supposed to be illegal, but it sure does seem sometimes that Chancellor pushes that envelop as far as he can and gets away with more than a few of those.

Bingo. The books aren't picking who they think will win; they don't care. It's all about the vig, baby.

I agree with the Kam Chancellor talk above but have come to realize that he is just going to be allowed to play this way because they would've started flagging him by now if not. It is common knowledge that their guys like to clutch and grab a fair amount and so long as they aren't flagging our guys just the same I say let em play. The heart of football is based on rough, tough, physical play and say what you will about the LOB but damn those guys bring the wood and I respect that. Today our boys need to rise to that level of physicality and take this game on as a personal challenge of their collective manhood and hammer any chump that comes into "their territory." I hate to use the bully example as I in no way see the Packers as some 80 lb kid getting his lunch money snatched but for arguments sake bare with me. Most bullies don't like getting their treatment of others returned to them and that is what I expect to see on my TV a few hours from now. This is one of those games where you need to show up and punch someone in the face (within the rules obviously) letting them know from jump that you are hear for one and one thing only. A fight. I think we have the guys on this team to bring this attitude and to be honest I think our attitude and mindset is the only thing that can keep us from our dance with destiny 2 weeks from now. We have a boatload of talent and while the Seahawks do as well I would take our roster compared to any other in the league when offense and defense are taken into consideration. I woke up today with the same feeling I had the day of the Steelers superbowl and we all know how that day turned out for us fans and our beloved team. I can't wait to be 5 minutes into the game and hearing either Buck or Aikman comment on how the Pack came to the Link with some fire in the belly today. This post may be homeristic but I don't give a rat's backside. I speak my mind and I feel the above is the best way for us to come out victorious today. Believe in yourself, the man next to you, the game-plan and come to the stadium looking to assert your dominance on the man across you on every single play. Seattle is a tough as nails team and I have mad respect for them but you can't tell me that the Packers haven't heard all the "they have no chance" and "Brady vs Seattle is going to be epic" crap this week. Use this garbage to help fuel your fire and go out there and make us proud today. Here's to safety for all players involved and one heckuva game! Enjoy your day everyone and God bless the Green Bay Packers! G P G!!!

Ok - morning ritual is complete: Got the lucky Packer shirt on, lucky beer is in the fridge with my lucky Packers mug ready to go. Chicken & Ribs marinating and the smoker is ready to fire up. I have done all superstitious rituals that I have in my inventory to guarantee a Packer victory.

If they lose... it's not my fault.

Damn bro, thanks for making my rituals feel nonsensical. Sounds like I need to step my game up! Enjoy the beer, the chow and a Packers win! G. P. G!

For those who get pumped with music before a game- playing or watching- try "I'm Ready" by Antoine "Fats" Domino.
"I'm ready, i'm willin', and i'm able to rock and roll all night".
Show 'em who you are, boys.

It's not THAT big of an upset. Ugh, are we getting compared to the worst team to ever win a Super Bowl?

Here’s McGinn’s preview of the game:
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/packers-healthy-enough-to-win-b99427006z1-288946481.html

He notes that the only significant player the Packers will be missing is Raji (I know some Packers fans would disagree with the qualifier “significant”) and the rest of the players not playing, or having reduced roles is by choice, not necessity. However, IMO he downplays Rodgers injury. He quotes a defensive coach for a recent Seahawk’s opponent as saying, "Seattle can be pushed around a little bit … but Seattle plays an eight-man front about every play.", noting the importance of Chancellor to their D.

Jason Wilde’s preview column came with a bit of a surprise. After revealing two embarrassing incidents regarding Super Bowl predictions, here’s his prediction for today’s game.

All week long, from the way they acted on the field and in the locker room after beating Dallas, to McCarthy’s demeanor in press conferences, to the way Rodgers behaved during and after his weekly radio show, to the players’ approach throughout the week, I’ve had this nagging feeling that this team is right where it needs to be to spring the upset. To be sure, the odds are against the Packers in a place where the Seahawks are an NFL-best 25-2 since the start of the 2012 season, against a defense that’s as good as it gets. Look, it’ll take a near-perfect game for the Packers to win and advance to Super Bowl XLIX. The guess here is that the people who need to come through – McCarthy, Capers, Rodgers, Lacy, the offensive line and the oft-derided defense – come through. Crazy? Maybe. We shall see. Packers 24, Seahawks 21. (Season record: 12-5.)

The first thing the Seahawks should be doing is sending a huge bouquet of flowers and a humongous box of chocolates to the Buffalo Bills for giving them this championship game at their home. Without the Bills upsetting the Packers last month they would be going to Lambeau next Sunday.

A little "thank you" note to Tampa Bay would be in order, as well, for injuring Aaron Rodgers' calf. Even in Seattle a full strength ARod would be a danger to them.

If they have any "lucky stars" they should be thanking them that Arizona ran out of quarterbacks and the Harbaugh show in San Francisco flamed out this season. These are the things that put them in their position today.
Whatever. Green Bay would then be thanking the St. Louis Cardinals for beating Seattle on a trick play... twice... to eek out a win against Seattle.

Or this.

Maybe. But I've seen lots of players start looking over their shoulder when playing against the Seahawks. It's not a myth. Big hits change the way teams play them.

As I have written elsewhere, I have nothing but praise the for physical style of defense that Seattle plays, with Kam Chancellor being the hit-man. However I do have some issues with the way that Chancellor tends to lead with the helmet. You get going at full steam and lower your helmet the way he does and it's no surprise players get injured. That's what Donnie Shell used to do and injuries were the main reason why leading with the crown of the helmet is now illegal. Kam looks like he pushes the envelope on that quite a bit, and sometimes he gets away with it.

A good hard hit is one thing. Planting your helmet in a receiver's chest is quite another.

This is a very exciting day. I like Green Bay in the underdog role. I like the fact that the Packers have vastly improved since the opening day loss to the Seahawks. R. Rodgers and Adams have become bigger parts of the offense, the offensive line is better and the defense has improved.

Hope to be celebrating a trip to the Super Bowl in a few hours!

I predict the winners of today will be the two teams who have the same seeding as the two teams who played in the College National Championship. If you catch my drift
