Man, this reminds me of Randall and Rollins 2015 again which I remember being so pumped up about thinking we were going to have an elite secondary and it flopped.. after that fail, taking 2 corners in consecutive rounds early tells me they're not completely sold on either guy and think both guys have "potential." We already have King, so one additional corner would have sufficed. I feel drafting like this, does not maximize our potential of truly building a great team from top to bottom...and maybe it's because of the disaster in 2015 taking Randall and Rollins leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I almost feel like picking two corners in the first 2 rounds tells me they're ok if one goes bust as long as they get one stud to complement Kevin King...

Fixing our secondary without addressing our linebacker core or edge rush will prevent our defense from being elite no matter how great our secondary turns out to be. Plus we still need another wide receiver (drooling over Bears scoop of Anthony Miller) and we need help on the line to protect our precious 12.

I think we can officially stop talking about what FA CB's are still out there to be signed?

I mean, we still needed 2 cbs. Behind a sophomore king who didn’t show a ton yet, and a 35 year old Williams what do we got? Now we have depth and potential at the second most important position on defense

Fair point, but big difference here. Jaire is a lock down explosive athletic true CB, not a safety who we are trying to make a CB like Randall. Jackson has great production in college. I understand the comparisons but FAR different player types IMO.

I really like King too but if he doesn’t pan out we now have more depth there. JMO. But I agree about needing an edge player. Very interesting to see what we do the rest of the draft.

Safeties: Haha, Brice, Josh Jones, Marwin Evans

CB’s: Tramon Williams, Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson, Lenzly Pipkins

Dline: Mo Wilkerson, Kenny Clark, Mike Daniels, Montravious Adams

LBs: Blake Martinez, Jake Ryan, Nick Perry, CM3, Vince Beigle, Chris Odom

Need to work on the linebacking core a bit, but I actually like this defense.
You missed the best part:

Big difference. Expectations were high because the secondary was very good prior to that. Anything can be better than the secondary we've had the last 2 year (it sure as hell better be).

Your point is valid as well. I LIKE BOTH players a lot...but I think we need more balance. Like drafting 4 running backs last year was really too much...we need to balance our drafts better instead of trying to overly address one area of need and not patching up the other areas is like having multiple leaks in a pipe and trying to only seal one leak and hoping the problem goes away. What's the point of a shut down secondary if the quarterback has all day to throw?

Surprised he was available. Shocked. He was my top player going into day 2 so I am glad we got him. Would have preferred a wr but you cant argue he was BPA.

I think he has amazing skills and was foolishly demoted because of a poor 40 time. He doesn't look slow when he plays.

We got 2 very effective skilled players who are smart.

I don't see any comparison other than it being two defensive necks. DRand was a safety converted into a CB and Rollins was a basketball player that made some plays in a non P5 conference. We just got to legit CB's with elite ball skills and proven track records. I loved the pick last night and cannot believe we landed JJ at 45. I understand feeling gun shy but lighten up and enjoy the fact we just added 2 of the best CB's in this draft (Alexander should be able to focus on slot now as well where he could thrive!), 10 more picks and the Saints 1 next year. Gute is crushing it in my eyes.

This is why it was silly for some to be so critical of the House signing. Dude may not even be on the roster come September. Literally hurt nothing to sign him. Say it with me: options.

What I liked about this pick is we got 2 CBs that could’ve easily been picked Day 1.

We literally looked like clowns out there in the secondary the last couple of years running into one another.
Now we got some legit competition. The best part is their actually football players. Not converted baseball players! What a grand idea!

Instead we got a guy who is coming off a year marred by leg and hand injuries and a guy who played in a mostly zone system.

Two talented players but certainly not locks to be great.

I was surprised that they doubled up on corners and even more surprised to get a guy of Jackson’s quality at #45. Love the value. As I said several times in the last few months, Jackson’s size, athleticism, and ball skills compare to Marcus Peters.

We got 10 picks still let them do there work!! I think we will be fine. Go Pack Go!! The WR I want is “ KeKe Coutee” cause I am a Cutie!! Lol just messin I’m ugly!!
