I’m gonna change my M.O. on here for a minute. Vikings are in discussion with the Browns for Odell.

I’d be very interested in swooping in with a 2021 2nd and 4th to best their offer. We have 10 picks for 2020 and we should be gaining some compensatory picks for 2021. A 2 & 4 for Odell is very affordable especially given our pick situation. Also, it would prevent him from playing us twice a year.

HRE is right on it. In addition to everything else, his contract is a farce.

This is a bad time to be talking about taking on a "record breaking" WR contract. There are about a dozen Wideouts worthy of first and second round grades available next week.. I'd rather use that draft collateral to move up earlier into day 2 if deemed necessary. That way we can use our 1st rounder on the best overall prospect (if that's a WR so be it) and smash day 2 with a starter caliber WR

His attitude would change if he played for a winner, which he never has to this point. I'm not totally against it, but I'm fine if we don't. It would suck to see him in Minny though.

I don't think he is a big attitude problem, but the contract is a problem.

Ron Wolf took a chance on Andre "Bad Moon" Rison. Thompson brought in Koren Robinson. Obviously two cases don't make Odell a slam dunk but they do show that the Packers can safely bring in troubled wide receivers, get good production out of them, and not have a continuation of their off-field problems.

I remember Davante lobbying to recruit him earlier this year.

The only thing I would hire Odell for is to fix the hole he punched in the wall after the 2017 Wild Card loss.

Oh I am pretty sure a few people here found a way to blame #12 for that hole too!

When you combine the attitude, the contract, the draft cost, and the durability, it's an easy no for me.

It would be hilarious though if the Vikings acquired Odell Beckham Jr. after squawking about how they really added to their team by subtracting Diggs because he's a diva... lol.

I would certainly make a trade for OBJ that didn't cost a 1st round pick. However, I would prefer the team trade for Curtis Samuel; probably 50% the cost for 75% the WR.

Ya, or use any available draft capital for a trade for OJ Howard. I'd send them a 2nd round pick for him - though doubtful they'd take that. A first on best available WR and a 2nd on OJ Howard turns this offense around real quick. The rest of the draft can be for depth in the trenches and ILB.

I don't believe Samuel would present a significant upgrade over MVS.

Baloney. By his 2nd season he was being suspended for playing with league rules and by his 3rd season the Giants were in the playoffs with an 11-5 recored and unlike a pro who buckles down, he decided to go have a party with some teammates and they showed up and sucked. Dropped passes, big dropped 3rd down passes, a dropped TD pass which I forget was him or Sheperd, regardless both were there and OBJ was the one who brought it all together like a true "leader".

And he ceremoniously capped of his 4 catch with a barely mentionable amount of yards and multiple drops by punching a hole in the locker room wall. He's a diva, he's when the going gets tough he gets going type guy. I wouldn't take him for free and half the contract. He's the type that will have all sorts of highlights when things are easy and as soon as they're tough he'll be making noise. I hope nobody in GB needs to learn that expensive lesson. His attitude will never change. He's easy to predict.

If the Queens want him, they can have him. OBJ has been mostly talk all of his career. Not the kind of guy we need, despite his incredible potential.

OBJ getting traded to Minnesota would be a win-win-win, and not for them.

1) They get gangsta-lite without team-first or clutch bullets in the chamber.

2) They lose draft picks.

3) After taking the contract, and considering the draft spend and the other spend that must come after, they have two choices:

I don’t see how they pull it off. They had little cap space coming into this offseason. So they would have to give up picks AND clear space on the roster to accommodate OBJ’s contract. All that said, if the Queens want him, they can have him. Much as I hate the Queens, I thought Zimmer was smarter than that. Or maybe this is just the GM’s call? Weird.

Just look at how badly the Bears acquiring Mack has been. I know they don’t have a 1st round pick this year, and think they also are out of the 3rd round.

And next year the Queens will have to decide on what to do at QB. All I can say is I’m glad we’ve got Gluten.

Like I said, MIN could convert salary to signing bonus, say $13 mil of his 2020 $14 mil, leaving a 2020 cap hit of $4.25 mil without cutting anybody. Go right ahead, I say. Lock him in for two years with that second year dead cap. Enjoy! They didn't like Diggs telling them how to run the show. Would they think OBJ out on the fringe doing his everybody-look-at-me routine would be any better?

You know what, though? Cleveland may be selling but I don't think Minnesota will be buying. Like everybody else in need of a receiver, there are a lot of options in this draft. I think we can reckon OBJs value drops after this draft.

The Vikings signed Cousins to a two-year, $66 million extension in March. They won't be able to move on from him until after the 2021 season.

That’s interesting. So it would only cost them $4 plus mil in cap to get OBJ this year. Again, I think Zimmer is too smart to trade for another locker room distraction (OBJ) after just getting rid of one (Diggs). And as you correctly point out, this draft is too rich at WR for a team to make such a desperate move, IMO.

But if they want OBJ that bad, they can have him. In the long run, it hurts them - maybe in the short run as well.

Do you think Gluten trades back tonight? That seems to be his style. He might be able to grab a guy like Tee Higgins, who I like, early 2nd round. The top 4 or 5 WRs will be gone by #30 anyway. Same for OTs, another area of need. It just seems better to have more picks in this draft than to burn one at #30 where the value isn’t there.

There are no free lunches. If you went the route I described there would be nearly $10 mil in dead cap in 2021.
