Exactly. The piper always gets paid. I’m not a big fan of pushing money back in a contract for cap reasons. It’s like borrowing more than you can afford to borrow. Either way, I don’t see the Queens making the deal. OBJ will remain Cleveland’s problem (among other problems in Cleveland.....).There are no free lunches. If you went the route I described there would be nearly $10 mil in dead cap in 2021.

Thanks for the update. I guess the point is moot after the draft last night.Any team acquiring OBJ would take a $14 million cap hit for the 2020 season with his current contract. With $11.15 million of his base salary fully guaranteed since March 20th there's not a lot of wiggle room to reduce that number for this year either.
