No ones talking about Tightend

There are only 3 on the roster, one of which is Justin Perillo who could not unseat the 18-targets-in-2-years Bostick.

According to sources I'm not allowed to name Perillo is capable of following instructions on outside kicks though.

The Packers' TE position will soon be solved! Here's a link to a madison.com story about former Kansas State basketball player Thomas Gipson. He worked out for a Packers scout earlier this week. He’s 6’7” 265 pounds. The only problem may be:
"I have never played organized football, ever," Gipson told the Eagle in an interview Friday. "But I am ready to start. Depending on what the Packers tell me, I am ready to fully commit to football."

The story mentions NFL TEs with basketball backgrounds: Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, Antonio Gates, and Tony Gonzalez. But it’s one thing to have a background in basketball – even have it as your primary focus – but it’s another never having put football pads on. If they invite him to camp, it’ll be a very low risk gamble. Anyway it looks like they’re searching under every rock…

I believe Gates is the only guy you mentioned who did not play college football, but at least he was a highly recruited high school football player.

I'm 60 years old and I could still run that route faster than that. Just once, though, since I'd probably pop the hamstring again. ;)
Holy crap that was bad. You didn't somehow slow that video down, did you?

According to one report, the Packers are bringing in Matt LaCosse of Illinois for a look see.

6'6", 257 lbs., with his lowest 40 at his Pro Day clocking 4.65.

Guess what? He lettered in basketball in HS. It does appear the Packers are beating the bushes for a tall, ex-baskeball playing TE.

I don't know about winning a Super Bowl, but with Goodson and Adams at guard and LaCosse and Gibson at forward, the Packers might be able to win the NFL post-season charity basketball game (if there actually was one). A trade with the Vikings for the following guy would round out the lineup:

Interesting. Looks like we'll be taking a TE at some point in the draft then.

Was there really ever any doubt they would?
With only 3 on the roster, and no fullback at this point, you'd figure that would be on the agenda.

Quarless will be a FA after 2015. The Packers drafted over him once with Rodgers, and installed Rodgers as the starter prematurely, so it probably won't take much of an offer to sign Quarless away.

Perillo could not beat out Bostick.

I wouldn't expect a high pick, but 3rd. round on down could be a possibility if the desired defensive players are secured in rounds 1 and 2. The 3rd. round might be a bit high; Rodgers got a decent amount of playing time as a rookie and would be a candidate to show improvement.

Out of the clear blue western skies...
I'm guessing that with other more critical needs to address TT will favor going with a project at TE later in the draft (or UDFA -- somebody like that BB player). Naturally, that means he'll prove me all wrong by taking a TE day-one.

I was excited to see TD do a write up on Blake Bell from Oklahoma. I have mentioned him a few times as someone I could see TT taking a flier on and think he could really develop into a nice player down the road. He is a very high quality athlete with a tremendous work ethic and being a former QB has a great understanding of what the D is trying to do. Take a few moments to read if you will...

I am not saying this kid will be a stud or anything just that these are the kind of stories that make this time of year and the NFL draft so cool to me. Whichever team takes Blake is going to get a high character kid that is going to out-work just about everybody. I would love for him to get a chance to wear G and G but regardless of where he ends up I will always root for him because at the end of the day he is a great young man. Good luck Belldozer!

I would be fine with the Packers taking a gamble on him in the late rounds of the draft.
