Divisional Round

Cincinnati
: 34 @ Tennessee: 24
San Fran 49’ers: 18 @ Green Bay: 31
LA Rams
: 31 @ Tampa Bay: 28
Buffalo: 42 @ Kansas City: 24

If I was a betting man...I would totally take the points on both the Rams and Bills games.

Cincinnati 27 vs Tennessee 24
Green Bay 27 vs San Fran 49’ers 24
LA Rams 27 vs Tampa Bay 24
Buffalo 27 vs Kansas City 24

At this point, I am predicting winners based on who I want to see in the conference matchups: Packers vs Rams and Bills vs Bengals.

After this round, we need "tie-breaker stuff" to get separation in scores. Maybe something like not only predicting winners, but adding or subtracting points based on how close we are to picking the actual score. Count the difference on both winner and loser. Let's say you pick the game at 27-24, and the final score was 31-20, but you got the winner right. Your differential would be 4 on the winning score, and 4 on the losing score, so a differential of 8 points. If the next person picks it at 27-10, as an example, they would be 4 off, and 10 off, for a total of 14. Let's say the next person picks it 30-23. They would be off by 1, and 3, for a total of 4. They would have the best prediction. Give points based on rank.

Giving additional points out based on closest to actual scores. Just an example: Probably the top 6 for points?

1st: 50 - differential 4 = 46
2nd 45 - differential 8 = 37
3rd 40 - differential 14 = 26
4th 35 - differential
5th 30 - differential
6th 25 - differential

It's not as complicated as it sounds, and it would help to create some separation the rest of the way, with only three games on tap after this coming weekend.

Just a though, nothing more.

I'd only go to six spots, and give points for everyone tied at that point for the day. Use the format that they use for golf. All ties at the bottom of the cut off for points.

Maybe just have the top 4 square off for the Super Bowl with closest score (correct winner) being crowned the playoff champion?

Omg, I'm an engineer and you just broke my brain with that formula!! ;) . I think we'll have separation by the time this ends with an exact hit or 2, as well as the bonus 5 points on correct score by a team. If 2 players do end up tied they get co-bragging rights for 8 entire months!!! :) .

I'm an engineer too. My second profession. First a cop, then Mechanical Engineer.

I just design & maintain machines and take care of our building...this differential stuff fried 3 of my remaining dozen synapses. :)

I ended up doing military spec interpretation, quotes, and build. Lots of really fun projects to be honest. Kind of like sitting down and talking to people who would say; "I have a cool idea! Let's ......." My job was to envision what they said, and see if it could be reality. If it was, make it happen.

Are you a tax accountant by any chance ? ;) I`m suggesting it seems fine but maybe if you are a foriegner, you multiply those points by three ?

I don't mind that tie-breaker if it's not too much work on you. God help any of us trying to check you've got them right though :D:barefoot:

I keep going back and forth on Rams Tampa. On one hand I think the Rams can get after Brady and the Bucs will struggle on offense. On the other, Stafford is still their QB and while he's capable of leading them to 30+ points, the Bucs are likely to pressure him in to 3+ turnovers as well.
