I feel like his name has been in the mix for quite some time.

I don't know if he'll get it, based on the rationale that he has the MVP playing for him at QB.

But I would counter that said MVP was playing way below his capability in the years preceding LaFleur and his offense.

Mike Tomlin??

Edit

Dec 18 odds.. Now he isnt leader its coach of the bills

LaFleur has just the eighth-best odds of winning Coach of the Year honors. Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin is the favorite at +193, followed by Washington’s Ron Rivera (+275), Miami’s Brian Flores (+440), Cleveland’s Kevin Stefanski (+825), Buffalo’s Sean McDermott (+1200), Kansas City’s Andy Reid (+1300), Sean Payton of New Orleans (+1850) and LaFleur (+1950).

Last year he should have been in the discussion for it. This year is a duplicate of last year and it is not like the team was decimated with injuries to the starters. He has a top flite offense and an average defense to support him. Not CotY candidate numbers IMO.

I expect it will be either Stefanski or Flores. They've taken struggling teams to the brink of the playoffs.

When can we talk about Matt LaFleur for coach of the year

When Jordan Love or some other QB not named Aaron Rodgers is the starter. I think the perception by the AP voters is that this team underperformed the last few years under McCarthy and with LaFleur they are now performing up to expectations. Usually coach of the year honors goes to that coach for a team that the voters write off before the year begins and makes it to the playoffs.

Congratulations to MLF for another 13-3 season. Many people, including me, thought we'd have a regression to maybe 10-6 this season, since there were so many close wins last season. He proved us wrong.

Now let's win the Super Bowl!

So Matt LaFleur is now 26-6 in the regular season and 27-7 including the playoffs as the head coach of the Greey Bay Packers. He's still yet to lose two games in a row during his tenure.

Additionally, his system has helped facilitate in Rodgers winning another MVP award.

This guy seriously does not get the credit he rightfully deserves in the national media (not like he gives a damn). Let's hope that he can lead the Packers to a Super Bowl where people will be forced to give him more credit for his accomplishments as the head guy for this team.

Kudos, coach. Many may not see it, but we as Packers fans sure as hell do.

MLF's problem is a lot of folks are not going to give him his due because of who his QB is - but then I'd point out there is a good reason why his QB is playing out of his mind this year. A lot of it has to do with the system he is having AR run.

I get that but I don’t think he’ll win COY because of it.

During a pandemic he fought cancer and Haskins. He made the playoffs with Alex Smith on one leg, and fielded a defense that GB would salivate over. I think Rivera has a decent shot.

When do ppl learn that, most of the time, coach of the year really means " we thought your team would suck and it didn't". MLF has done magnificently, but nobody expected the Packers to suck and they have the same record they had last season. That generally doesn't fit how ppl vote for CotY.

I said it last year, second year in a system is when play improves. No rational person should expect seamless transition into a brand new offense right away.

Just one of the reasons I found all the "Rodgers is in decline" takes so tiresome.

As for LeFluer, I was happy to not see ANY Packers coaches on the preliminary list of coaching candidates. Stay off of the radar. Keep the group together. They deserve the credit, but for selfish reasons I hope that they don't get it. :p

Whoa... Credit to the team of doctors who didn't amputate that. It would have been mighty tempting to say, welp, that's it we gotta take the leg.

Is Coach Of The Year only given to the coach with the best record?

Great article. Thank you
