New coach, 1-0 start. Return to competence or was it because the B3@rz still suck?

I hate playing teams with nothing to lose but the Lions are also only one game out of the 7th seed.

Lions game is one of two I have red circled for possible hiccups down the stretch...I don't care if we never lead till the end like last year. Let's just get a W no matter how ugly!

Bevell certainly knows the Packers. As for the Bears/Lions game, it was one of those "somebody had to win it" situations. They still have good players in Detroit so I expect a good game, similar to the Eagles victory. They will hang around and potentially win, but my money would be on a victory.

Lions offense might be better but they just gave up 30 points to the Bears terrible offense so their defense is still clearly trash.

I think we will be fine.

It's not their beating the Bears that has me concerned, especially since I believe a lot of people are going to get fired in Chicago as well when it's all done. It's more that Ford Field has been a stumbling block sometimes over the years.

The Lions players may have given up on Patricia, but they certainly proved they haven't given up on Bevell or the season. But even if they were 3-9, we'd still need to watch out for them because they were 3-11-1 and injury depleted last year and they still came out determined to beat us. They still got plenty to play for this season with a chance after winning last Sunday, small yes but still a chance to make the playoffs. But even if they don't, their players and fans often see their home games vs us as their superbowl

We blew em out in week 2, but they appeared to be unprepared for Aaron Jones to go off on them. They'll probably be more ready this time. At least I expect they'll look to limit him.

Gonna be a tighter one here I think

The Packers have more talent on the roster than the Lions do, but that doesn't always guarantee a victory.

Green Bay wins if they don't turn the ball over and/or make gaffes on special teams.

Bevell certainly knows the Packers.

Does he really though? He was in Green Bay from 2000-2005. The Packers have an entirely new roster, offense and defense since he coached there. He might know them in respect that he has been in Detroit since 2019 and keeps track of his divisional rivals. I don't think he knows them any better than say the Bears or Vikings.

I don't think Bevell really comes into play here and players giving up on coaches. Sure, they didn't like Patricia, but I don't think they are rallying around Bevell. Let's be honest here, it was one game and against the Bears in a game they should have lost. The Bears are fools for passing on that possession and not just trying to run the clock out.

I definitely think they need to be careful and the Lions seem to always bring it against the Packers. They should respect every opponent they play. However, they should not fear this team at all and should play confidently.

I feel like the Packers will be prepared and don't think this will be much of a game. Rodgers is playing lights out and Adams is in the top 5 for receiving even after missing 2 games. I don't think the Lions can come close to stopping the Packers offense and there are no weather elements to get in the way of slowing them down. I think it is a feel good win on Sunday. Here's to hoping I'm correct.

This is do or die for the Lions and their new coach. So I expect them to come out fired up and looking for a win. I'm just glad that the stands will be empty.

I'm still trying to get the bitter taste out of my mouth when the Lions swept us 4 straight games in 2017 and 2018, by a combined margin of 76 points! Yes, different Packer team, but not that much different than the one that barely squeaked out both wins last year.

I expect if both teams play their best, the Packers run away with this one at an empty Ford Field. However, if the Packers come out flat and the Lions fired up, watch out.

What usually happens is the Packers do one or two stupid things or the Lions get one or two lucky breaks to start the game, then the crowd gets into it (even with all the Packer fans, that place can get loud), and the Lions feed off that energy. I think this is a very different Detroit team from the last few years and, while they're still capable of getting some lucky breaks, they're just not talented enough to outplay the Packers if they do get those breaks, and I don't think just changing the coach will cure what ails them. And with no crowd, they won't have anyone to whip them into a frenzy and play over their heads.

That being said, I agree that the Packers can't afford to come out flat for this one. They can't keep playing the "fall in an early deficit and turn it on to win in the end" game with Detroit. I'd be disgusted, but not shocked, with a loss.

The Packers really need to seize upon this opportunity to win out and capture the #1 seed. Never hosted an NFC Championship game in the Rodgers area. Four championship game appearances, never at home. Almost seems impossible.

Yup, the importance of a win here or loss there.

Even if the Packers win out, the Saints are going to have to lose one game to either the @Eagles, Chiefs, Vikings or @Panthers, for the Packers to lock up the #1 Seed.

I may change my tune in 4 weeks, but as of now, the Saints scare me less than having to go out and play the Rams in LA and their defense.

Worried with this game.

I know some dont think Bevell is special, but I think players love him and do extra.

The guy has coached against the Packers for most of his career, mainly with the Vikings and Seattle. Yes he knows this team and its tendencies, probably as well or better than Mike Zimmer. I say better because he did actually coach Rodgers for a year. A smart man would find a way to use that knowledge in some fashion, and Bevell seems to be quite intelligent. Let's also not forget that Bevell and Childress lured Favre to the Vikings in 2009. I am pretty sure that whatever knowledge Favre brought with him about beating Rodgers, is still bouncing around in Bevell's noggin.

Now I'm not purporting him to know everything about us, but you can't discount his background against the Packers. He knows us about as well as any opposing coach could know us.

Another game that should be a solid win against an inferior team, but nothing is ever guaranteed. I could see TJ Hockenson wrecking us almost single-handedly like Dalvin Cook did.

I worry about TJ and Marvin Jones. Marvin has had some big games against Green Bay, although for the most part we held him in check the last game with only 4 catches, 23 yards and 1 TD.

But lifetime, Marvin has 32 catches for 555 yards and 8 TD's in just 8 games against the Packers.

This week

We gotta not only win but we must cheer for Tampa Bay and Arizona to win. Tampa Bay needs to smack them hard and send them a message that they don't belong in the playoffs.

We also have to cheer for Jalen Hurts and Co out in Philly

And then let's hope Arizona somehow pulls it out. If we don't knock the Saints out of number 1, we need to draw the Cardinals. If we do, we'll whoop em big time with their rat bag defense which Aaron Jones will knife right through.

I disagree. As much as I dislike the Queens, I'm not worried about the possibility of them catching us to win the division, nor would I be afraid to face them again at Lambeau in the playoffs. Yeah I know the results from the last game, but I would rather see the Queens stick a fork in the Bucs seeding position, who I feel we really match up poorly against. The Queens can then do the same to the Saints in a few weeks, to help us secure the #1 seed.

Edit: I kind of see where you were going with that post now, you would prefer having to face the Cardinals over the Vikings in the playoffs? Probably a better scenario, but I'm looking at trying to maintain the #2 seed and move up to #1 if possible. Bucs catch us if they win out and we lose 2.

But they would still need to leapfrog the Saints for the division. Doesn't matter if they have the better record than the Packers if they don't win the division. And right now, the Saints are in a commanding position over the Bucs. For the Bucs to win the division, they would need to win out and the Saints would need to lose out. Highly improbable scenario.

Packers as division champs get the home game over any wild card team, regardless of record.

Good point and thanks for pointing it out. I was thinking they were seated based on final records, but forgot that even if the Bucs and Packers had the same records, the Packers would still have home field if the Bucs were a wildcard.

This is why I come here, I learn (or get reminded) of something "new" everyday.

Umm, if the Saints also lose out. Saints hold all tie breakers over TB, so the only way TB can catch us is if they win out and the Saints lose out. A scenario I don't see happening.

So here's how I see it. I got a feeling TB probably makes the playoffs. But so long as they hold the 6th seed, they'll get sent out to play the Rams or Seahawks, both scenarios of which will knock them out.

But yes I want the Cardinals here. Give Rodgers a chance to make them pay for 2009, 2015 and 2018. And we will.
