Aaron Jone's disagrees with the logic it is none of a guys' business:

“This is still the most I’ve ever made, and it still has me as the second-highest paid for the backs, so it matched up with the market. I didn’t want to be greedy. I’m a team player,” Jones said Tuesday, via Wes Hodkiewicz of the team’s official site. “I want to help the team and help them get as many guys in here as we can. So, if that means free up a little money, then I will.”
Please educate me when exactly Aaron Jones will be going into the HOF? By the way I absolutely love him as a person.

He actually however took a true cut. You cannot acknowledge what you did, without acknowledging he actually took a cut. It wasn't as big as some want to pretend but it truly was.
That contract he signed was never going to be for more than 2 years. I bet you even posted about that yourself. I don't consider re-doing a contract that was never going to happen as a pay cut.

Oh I for sure did. My point is some players do actually consider team cap and are cognizant of it was all.

Don't get me wrong, I truly believe Aaron Jones is a great human being. But the only reason he agreed to take a pay cut is that the Packers told him they would release him if he didn't.

And he could have said okay - he was going to get a contract elsewhere, however he chose to stay and in doing so in part was wanting to be here and he knew and understood all aspects that cut would assist with. I was just saying being cognizant of financial impacts is something some players for sure do exhibit.

Robinson reports the Jets & Packers had the parameters of a deal in place. But after Rodgers said the "90% retired" thing after his darkness retreat, Woody Johnson got scared to spend high draft capital on him. That would explain why the #Packers don't want to take less.

I appreciate that Jones wanted to stay with the Packers enough to agree to take a pay cut as well.

But don't fool yourself that he did that for the team to have more cap space to sign other players though. He was well aware that he will still earn more money this and possibly next season than he would have received as a free agent.

I almost hope he goes to the 49ers now (or anywhere else) just so we get the apocalyptic New York media when Rodgers ultimately doesn't come.

I'll be glad with this drama is unloaded from the team.

Yep, this is where I'm at now, too. I'd now rather take less from any other team just to NOT trade him to the Jets with them and their ******** around.

It would be a pretty terrible approach to take less compensation from another team just to screw the Jets.

As I have mentioned repeatedly (and supported with numbers) it's a myth that Brady took less for the team to surround him with better talent.
That Statement makes absolutely no sense. You realize we can see his contracts at a finger touch. Are you saying a dozen sites are all wrong?

Entertain me I must be bored. Show me how Brady makes the same or more than Rodgers directly from Team funds.

I have posted the numbers repeatedly on the forum. You can use the search tool to find it as I'm too lazy to research it once again.

Bottom line (if I remember correctly) is that Rodgers made less than $2 million more per season than Brady despite being six years younger.

That's actually negligible and definitely doesn't support the myth that Brady took significantly less money.

The Patriots did a great job of structuring his contracts though. Something Gutekunst and Ball failed miserably at last offseason.

Essentially, the meat of it is the Packers move up 2 spots in the 1st round of this year’s draft, get a 2023 second rounder, and a 2024 1st or 2nd rounder.

The better deal that we got for that tells me we owe moreso of Rodgers contract than they do. That was a great deal. Well done.

That whole aspect of it was already set, the only moving salary cap hit option is in the Jets hand if they want to enact it. Packers were paying a set amount if a Pre-June 1 trade.
