In truth I would place TOP being a third round only through conditions being met.

A good friend of mine in a scouting department feels strongly GB could likely get a fifth or fourth this upcoming draft with a conditional in 2026 tied to what Malik does which would realistically cap at a 4th…or 3rd if like some lunacy conditional is met.

So far, I think Willis has played like a starter in the league. Maybe if he gets a full plate as a QB; he will flounder. But maybe not. I would not want to trade him. And while I believe we can have a top notched offense with Love; I can see using Willis on some plays going forward this year even if Love is completely healthy. And if that works out; we could do the same thing next year.

So, as long as I’m dreaming.. (and bored during our Bye). What could we get for Malik? I doubt GB trades him but IF they did so before the 2025 draft? For 1 season and potential future help he garners a 4th Rounder (possibly a pick swap such as we send Malik with a 7th back)

I don't think enough to warrant trading him. They should ride out his contract through 2025, which is a reasonable rookie deal of $1.4 Million (including his workout bonus). If he walks in The 2026 Free agency period, they probably get a better comp pick then they would by trading him.

The Packers played far too many season with a crappy, unproved backup QB. Now that they have found a capable one, at a super reasonable salary, why trade him for a middle round pick?

Only way I see Gute trading Willis, is if its for a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Well we may have hit FA Jackpot. It is not inconceivable that he warrants more substantial draft capital. I think a suitor would still have Gute’s ear if they offered a pair of draft picks. Such as a 3rd/4th packaged. That would be mighty tempting.

Interesting perspective. It makes sense. The only way I see where the Packers could pull the trigger on a trade is if he ends up playing again this year, and plays lights out, then hits the preseason next year lighting it up. Then, if someone has a top QB go down for the season, his services could be very valuable. At that point, he could garner some very interesting pick potential. So if you trade Malik after this season (some thought the Packers should have traded him before Nov. 5th), who is your capable backup? Clifton?

Now if we had 2 solid backups, I can see having this conversation. However, we don't. The more I think about this, the more I think Gute would be absolutely nuts to part with Willis for anything short of a decent 2nd rounder. A capable backup QB isn't that easy to come by, a capable back up QB that is making $1.4M is even hard to come by.

As a matter of fact, as long as Willis would be ok with it, I would try to sign him to a longer term contract at backup type of money. Which I think is actually more of the wildcard here, it may be Willis pushing for a trade, so he can try to earn a starting gig and paycheck.

I will absolutely agree that I like having a solid backup. Most of the good veteran backups are $5Mil-$10mil yearly depending. So yeah 1.5M is cheap.

There is also an outside chance that Willis has not played his best football. Hard to tell after 2.5 games. I remember many poster in here raved about Huntley with the Ravens at one point. Performing in 1 or 2 games is one thing. Doing it at a high level for 6 or 10 or a full season of games is quite another.

If I knew we got a Top 50 selection I’d be all ears. At some point there’s a risk of Malik wanting to compete as Starter somewhere and us not getting that high of an offer for him. So there’s Risk on both sides. Taking a 7th and getting a #50 overall is a stellar return on investment. It would allow the Packers to go out and draft a Day2 QB (our version of Hendon Hooker) with 1 of 3 selections and 4 years of cheap $$ and still potentially spend a Day1 and two 2nd Rounders to bolster other positions on top of that.
