I'm devastated that George Foreman has died. He'd become a role model of what people can become when they put their heart into it. His constant work on the behalf of others over the last 20+ years will set him apart from most athletes. He left this world a better place because he lived in it. RIP George.

A hero from the days where the heavyweight boxing champ was king of the world. Truthfully, I couldn't even tell you who the Champ is today. Those guys were larger than life back then. I'm not sure when that drifted into relative obscurity ... but you know, Clay/Ali, Joe Frazier, Foreman ... even Ken Norton ... and the guy with the tattoo'd face that bit off a piece of another boxer's ear --- Tyson ... you know who they were. Can I say it was a gentleman's fight then? Now the fixation seems to be on a sport if you will, that more resembles a Friday night at a tavern's parking lot. I personally can't get much into that. All that's missing is a car jack swinging by their head (uh...yeah...personal experience)

Rest in Peace, George. I purchased your grill. Just sayin'.

Somewhere I've got a Polaroid of George giving me the knock-out punch. He was signing copies of his book and agreed to take a photo with me. Foreman was a great example of completely turning your image around from villain to hero. He's also inspired countless athletes to challenge Father Time.

Rest peacefully big guy.

Household name. Family guy. Heavyweight Boxing Champion. For myself, most importantly a Pastor and loved the Lord. 45 years at the Pulpit doing everything in his power to rescue people for eternal life. Say hi to Yeshua for me, I shall be with you soon my Brother.

I'll always remember George raising that tiny US flag after winning the Gold Medal in boxing in 1968. He stood in the middle of the ring, with this little American flag in his hand while they raised the other one in victory.

Being part of our military in Vietnam, when I saw it, I cried. In an era where so many Americans were vilifying us as soldiers, this one man stood up and showed his pride.

I became a George Foreman fan that day and stayed that way for the rest of his life. I was supportive of his comeback in the ring because I felt that the man with the flag had a mission to fulfill. It was an amazing journey back for him, and we can all only hope to be impactful on others in life as George was.

It was his faith that brought him back and made him a success. I hope his children are there to honor and continue the work of their father. They have big shoes to fill.

I remember him on Johnny Carson before his 1st big pro fight. He and Joe Frazier. The way George stared at Joe, I knew he was gonna kill him.

He was a true champion of the little guy. When he knocked out the Champ in his late 40's to reclaim the title and then fought Holyfield iirc and subsequently lost he was a class act.....in winning it again and losing it with grace and pride......he was a prince among men. Rest now big George.
