If the team even kinda thinks Morgan is the future at LT I will bang the Jackson Slater drop until I’m blue in the face in the third round. Dude is going to be a starter in the league and is special.

Not risky at all IF the staff sees Morgan as a tackle.

Say Conerly Jr is there and we add him - he instantly could start there...we also have Jenkins who has played tackle in the NFL as well.

You could roll out a starting line of Conerly / Banks / Jenkins / Morgan / Tom and Rhyan be your swing interior which makes Walker highly surplus and attractive trade bait if a team has a guy go down. In this scenario you're likely also adding Dillard type guy back or another Day3 tackle prospect like Esa Poles as well.

I think this draft and decisions are being driven vastly more by 2026 than anything that is going to happen in 2025....this team has a SOLID young foundation, but with 6 starter level guys and 8 contributors and 10 that get actual snaps with expiring contracts after this year - this draft is MASSIVELY about handling the future more than the present IMO.
Well, I'll go on the record as saying that I consider it extraordinarily risky to replace 4 starting offensive linemen after a season where the old crew wasoverall considered in the top third of the league in performance. I dang sure wouldn't do it just out of fear of having a disastrous first half of the season and getting my franchise QB killed

Not seeing scenario where we have four new OL? Unless are you counting Jenkins moving as a new one?

I also don't consider Morgan a stark new guy either seeing as how he was instantly running half games with the 1s at RG from the drop...if healthy I think Rhyan already was going to find himself depth.

Even if we started a rookie draft pick...really only two new guys would be starting (with one being Banks) + Morgan (who one could argue was part of the unit already).

I'd personally still not hesitate to draft Conerly or Banks if there at 23 with 2026 in mind - and let 2025 competition say whether Walker is LT2 or LT1 for one year and if Rhyan is RG1 or RG2 and be golden IMO...a lot of folks would HATE THAT for sure.

I'm not adverse at all to drafting a future starting offensive tackle in the 1st round. I think it's a much more likely pick than a WR frankly.

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I'm really averse to drafting an OT in the first round two years in a row when we have so many other immediate needs at other positions.

I don't think you're in a minority at all if they plan for Morgan to be a tackle. LaFleur seemed to indicate as much, which would mean that taking one high doesn't make a lot of sense.

But if they wanted to keep him at RG, then taking a tackle makes a ton of sense.

Which truth be told, let’s say Gutes board has OT1 assumed gone in top fifteen still there on draft day….they know and already were leaning Morgan at RG last year, they could still pull the trigger…

But I strongly feel they are gonna have a choice of their DL3 or Edge3 or WR3 at 23…maybe even their #2 at one of them also

I predict both trenches before CB, zero Jaire noise just further confirms that as my prediction.

Are you thinking 2 of our current OL goes PS or gets cut with another higher draft pick at OL? Just curious your thoughts isn’t that room stacked?
Or would we keep 10 this year? I say that because we currently have 10 OL.
Personally I’d like to see us draft at CB inside 4 Rounds at latest. Possibly even Doubling up at the position etc.

Most of the time unless you're up in the real blue chip (guys with over 50% confidence in you know what you're getting) I've always held to the belief you draft for future not the present, but here's what we currently have in the OL room:

Offensive Line
Rasheed Walker - Final year

Aaron Banks - Signed in FA 2025
Elgton Jenkins - Signed through 2026 season
Sean Rhyan - Final year
Jordan Morgan - Signed through 2027 season
Zach Tom - Final year

Jacob Monk - Signed through 2027
Travis Glover - Signed through 2027
Marquis Hayes - Final year
Donovan Jennings - Final year
Trey Hill - Final year

I left that split/break in there because after Tom there is no proven or experienced guy, even a guy like Dillard last year at minimum had seen the NFL, played in it and the overwhelmed from a mental side of it all wasn't going to be a factor (could still be overwhelmed but not that side of it likely).

Personally, I only see a potential NFL future in Monk, Glover or Jennings...but you give me a high invested pick I'm kicking any of those to the curb in truth without hesitation. A tackle that could go guard if needed would be the perfect addition to a room that next year is going to have change for sure...at least one departure maybe two of the three with expiring contracts.

That makes sense. Expiring contracts coming with Tom and I forgot about Rhyan.

I still think much could be solved with 1 more shorter term FA contract (2yrs etc or 1yr prove it deal). Such as an CB where there’s still some supply. At iDL there’s just not much available it’s slim pickins
I know Rasul dropped off a little but after looking a little closer at 2024, if I thought he’d sign a $5mil stop gap deal I’d be all over that type signing. It would allow us a security blanket to focus more on DL, OL, WR. I just don’t know if there’s any bad blood there or what his expectation is $ wise. Imo it was a mistake letting him go and yes I said it real time also. He knows this team and I think he might like an opportunity to get on a contender.

And Walker too.
