Oh well.... time to salvage Rodgers last few years but... time is ticking
Alex Smith is from Rodgers draft class, and now there's a possibility his career is over. Hopefully such a thing doesn't happen to Rodgers, but he does get hit a lot.

Off the top of my head I would say the 3rd down conversion percentage was a bit higher than the success rate of punting and getting the ball back at the end of regulation. When the teams’ season and your job are on the line I would think it’s time to hit the panic button and go for broke.
I would seldom criticize a coach for being aggressive. The news media is questioning Ron Rivera's decision to go for two yesterday against the Lions. The news has to peddle their sensationalist stories, but I like a coach who goes for the win. Thing is, no matter what you do, if it doesn't result in a win, somebody's going to criticize you.

Rodgers has been in a conservative offense that only functions, in years past, when he scrambles and allows receivers to get open. After a few years of that I can understand (not agree with necessarily, but certainly understand) if the QB is listening to his coach draw up a play and telling Rodgers, "This guy will be open" and Rodgers is thinking, "Yeah, sure" and doing what's worked so well in the past, scrambling. The OC thing is absolutely overrated. It's MM's offense. He's the offensive coordinator. Just like Holmgren was the OC when he was also the HC.

But, let's say I'm wrong and you're correct, that doesn't change the fact that MM needs to go. We can bemoan Rodgers' supposed foolhardiness and stubbornness all we want but it's obvious that's not changing under MM. So the options are to continue to ignore history and stubbornly believe that something will suddenly change (when it hasn't for three years), trade Rodgers, or get a new HC. Only one of those options is realistic.

Conservative? We're basically running the old Jeff George run n shoot offense with a rich man's Jeff George. Our offense is predicated on Rodgers driving the ball downfield. It doesnt help that teams know Rodgers doesn't want to throw short and that they basically use a lot of 2 and 3 deep shells with their pass rushers aligned out wide.

Any given opposing defense: Hey we've got our pass rushers out in a wide 9 with a nickel D and our safeties are way off the line, you'd be stupid to try a downfield against this front. In fact a run, quick hitter, or checkdown is pretty much a guaranteed first down.

Rodgers: Challenge accepted.
