McCarthy on Jordy Nelson (rib): He'll be in the rehab group through Friday. If he can practice Saturday, he'll have a chance to play.

Just reading tea leaves here but I doubt that a man with broken ribs and/or collapsed lungs/lacerated spleen, would have the expectation of being a practice on Saturday. Or even the possibility of him practicing. It could be MM's way of not letting Dallas know Jordy's status right now, but this statement above leaves me with a little hope that it's nothing more than possibly bruised ribs.

McCarthy said during his press conference that Nelson will work with the rehab group until Friday. He added that if the receiver can practice on Saturday there's a chance he'll play at Dallas.

Nelson spent the evening at a hospital but is currently at Lambeau Field.

At this point, I will take that as good news. It means that he at least has a shot to play, indicating that the injury doesn't rule him out 100% for this game or any other potential future playoff games.

This will be a story all week. If I had to bet I would think we wont have Jordy this week and as much as I like Jordy I don't think we need him to beat Cowboys.

This isn't like last season when we were down to Abbrederis, Janis and RR. There are plenty of available weapons. I personally like inserting Michael at RB and moving Monty back to receiver. Can also put Monty in backfield on passing downs and insert the emerging G-MO outside.

Lots of options. Would rather have healthy players then Jordy trying to muscle it out. Give Jordy a couple weeks and hopefully he can help later.

James Jones played a season with the Pack with broken ribs so what do I know.

If it ain't punctured or ruptured or broken then I say Jordy grits his teeth and plays. His legs are OK and he makes a good decoy. He is tough.

I know it is after the fact but why was that not an illegal hit leading with the helmet. then I laughed at what the announcers said, he(Giants) may get a letter from the commissioner, heck he knocked out our #1 WR out of the game what good is a letter going to do. Hope Jordy heals and if he plays great if not, I hope he will be ready to play the Seahawks in 2 weeks.

I think you can probably see now why I was talking "90 man roster" that TT put together back in thee summer that I was so excited about. Some of these players who weren't supposed to make tbe team are now becoming vital and will become even more vital in the teams Super Bowl hopes and it might just work.

MM is blowing smoke to keep the Cowboys guessing. Who knows what his condition is but Jordy is badly needed.

As usually, I am 100% fine with MM not telling everyone about Nelson's health. None of us need to know it and Dallas especially doesn't. Of course, I would like to know too but am happy to be ignorant in this case.

I don't believe it was a dirty hit. The guy was just trying to knock the ball loose. He didn't go for the knees. He didn't aim for the head. He hit right where you are supposed to hit, yet guys on here still think that it's dirty because it hurt one of our players. The only thing you can fault him on was that he put his head down. My coaches always told me to see what I was tackling. Easier said than done at full speed. A facemask at full speed into the side of your ribs could still result in the same injury, especially at those temps.

**EDIT** saw someone's post that Mike Piera deemed the hit illegal because of use of the crown. I can't dispute that point. I still don't think that it was intentional or dirty, just illegal.

This is all true and if Jordy catches that ball cleanly instead of bobbling it his ribs never get exposed.

I knew right away this was going to be a few weeks MINIMUM! His rib cage collapsed. He seized up mid air after the hit. Stayed down. Didn't come back to the field (that I seen. Anyone else?). He couldn't straighten out. He is broken unfortunately...

Im hopeful he could play in the superbowl. But honestly that's about as optimistic as I can be. I think he is done for the year.

You knew right away and yet no one else has said anything of the sort. What are Wednesday's lottery numbers?

Many of the helmet hits aren't intentionally dirty IMO, just a part of the game that happens when bodies are moving fast, changing directions and colliding while doing so. Hall was most likely trying to take him out with his shoulder and just the way the two moving bodies impacted, it was the helmet that hit first.

I agree. Since hitting a guy at full speed with your head is a great way to break your own damn neck I don't think a lot of players intentionally set out to do it.

Dirty and illegal are quite different. This was illegal not dirty. But it was illegal and it hurt a Packer player.

Yup, if he's not out there we will know its bad. There is no way he misses this game if its at all possible he can play. He will tape it up and pour on the painkillers if that is all it takes.

I don't think the hit was "dirty". Leon Hall is far from the only player that tends to put their helmet down as they move to make a hit or tackle. Packer players do it all the time. I think it just happened in a split second as Hall was trying to both stop the receiver from making the catch while smacking him out of bounds.

Was it aggressive? Yes. Should he (for his own safety as well) kept his eyes facing forward rather than down? Yes. Will he be fined? Maybe or even probably.

But, not "dirty", IMO.

It was an illegal hit. It should have drawn a flag. Intentional or not, you can't lead with the crown of your helmet in that situation. Very dangerous and should draw a fine. I think the league would be well advised to start issuing suspensions for hits like that.

Prior to 2013 it would not have been a penalty.

Dirty hit by a dirty SOB. Led with the crown of the helmet, made the hit after he dropped the ball. He easily could have pushed him with his hands out of bounds. One dirty MF hit there.

While you are entitled to your opinion, you might what to watch the replay again. The hit was made while Jordy was attempting to gather the ball in, no hit, he probably catches the ball. Hall definitely puts his helmet down and should have been called for it. But calling Hall a "dirty SOB" due to it? Nahhh, this isn't touch football.

If you go back look there 2 officials real close to the play. On on each side. Under this description of the of the rule it was hairline of the helmet which hit Nelson is not crown of the helmet. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/0ap2000000152145/Crown-of-the-helmet-hit-rule-explained

With that in mind watch the play

The M'fer led with his helmet and speared Nelson who was in a defenseless positition. A two hand push would have accomplished the same thing.
. He was trying to put Jordy out of the game and he accomplished his mission the dirty SOB.
I don't care what you guys think. Any hit that injures a player to that degree is F'ing dirty.

At least 2 broken ribs..gonna take a superhuman effort to play much less be effective..this really sucks for the Pack and the comeback player of the year without question in my mind...then again, if anyone could pull this off it would be Jordy Nelson..GB still going to go into Dallas and put on a show

You can hit the sides and hair line of the helmet... you can't hit crown of the helmet which is very top of it.
