ISAIAH SIMMONS visiting the Packers today.

LB/Safety hybrid has had excellent games, and terrible...arguably good years and some not so good years. Massive upside value in sub-packages given his insane athleticism....would embrace it for a good deal. He just did 1 year for $2M...be a fun one to say let's do a two year $5M but only with like 1 or 1.5M guaranteed. He's still young, if he clicks excellent guy to have around.
Former 8th overall draft pick. An amazing athlete but not much of a football player. Worth a shot.

Correct, however EXCELLENT special teamer worst case and a diverse depth piece that truly in sub package and limited role play has seen some good times in his short career. Against teams that run a LOT of two TE set ups or have a dynamic TE that moves to the slot a lot he can cover very good!

Would be worth a gamble IMO...terrific player in college, exceptional athlete, and worst case scenario he's probably signing for at or close to vet minimum and a ST only role. Best-case scenario he lands in a situation where a DC is able to carve out a role that makes the most of his athleticism/traits and he is able to tap into some of the potential he was drafted for (#8 in 2020)

Definitely a high-upside signing and if nothing else we are somewhat thin at LB relatively speaking....We have what, 5 on the roster right now? Probably won't carry many more than that into the regular season but will need more bodies for camp and etc...maybe able to carve out a role in the in-between

We essentially have Quay, Cooper, McDuffie and Hopper as main four...if we signed Simmons I would officially come off my plans of drafting another UNLESS again the team knows they're not working with Quay for a future deal.

Sounds like yet another Giant who could benefit greatly by getting the hell out of NYC.

One thing I’ve learned about Jeff Hafley is he’s very adept at finding player strengths and giving them some leash to use their strengths
So he reminds me of a Turbo version of Oren Burks. I forgot he went #8 overall in 2020, so he’s very physically gifted.
Possibly the perceived replacement for Eric Wilson? Dividing up between Teams and rotational ILB

We Resigned TE John Fitzpatrick
Nice. Well all I could think of is..
You know what they say about those 2 lovers, Gerald and Patrick? Patrick Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzpatrick. It’s never a bit too late to celebrate me St Patrick’s everyone!

8th overall pick in the 2020 draft, now just hoping to make an NFL roster.

Might be good enough for special teams and to add some depth.

Agree. IMO they would not have brought him in without Xavier's blessing since they are former teammates.

At worst, Simmons would be a good addition to the special teams. In the event that Hopper goes nowhere, Simmons could be valuable depth at LB #4. Given that he's going to be cheap and still young, I see no good reason not to sign him.

I guess it depends on how the visit went, and what his asking price is.

I do think you are correct on that. Although we might be surprised if Haf can utilize him correctly he could be a really good addition at a cheaper price. Reminds me of that LB from Dallas we picked up a couple seasons ago, but that was pretty banged up. Yet Simmons is a better athlete with more upside and less serious injury history imo. It’s a risk, but at
1-2Mil guaranteed if he hits? We’d be in like flin

I didn’t realize Stackhouse never got drafted!! I took him in some interactive mocks later Day3. I’m actually excited about him. Ok yes his role is more limited as a Run D specialist, but he’s an actually pretty good at that and it fits a definite need for us. While he’s not a consistent force, 3 down player, he’s had some really great flashes of big time disruption against top competition.

He’s also a consecutive 2022,2023 2nd-Team All SEC Player. So getting Nazir is like an absolute gift post draft! Welcome Stack!

The thick crop of DT pushed Stack off the Boards but in most years that guy gets drafted imo. We’ve got some tough dudes on our Defense. It’s a very Georgia Esque feel.

I view Stackhouse more as Slayton's replacement, on early downs, and Brinson to play mainly 3T and/or possibly spell him on passing downs. These two guys are putting Wooden on notice, for my early take on that position. Both are good run defenders, with Brinson showing more in the pass rush.

I'm excited about him. It could be he didn't get a lot of attention because Georgia had 13 players drafted, 8 on defense, and 3 of them his fellow linemates. If he'd played that well at many other schools, he may have stood out more.

I know at least one source (Dane Brugler, I think) had him ranked as the #211 prospect. I'm looking forward to what Hafley can do with him.

That’s about right. So DT, JJ Pegues was a guy I took regular in that RD6 area in Mocks. You’d see Stackhouse float around that same area, maybe a shave later consensus player around 200 overall etc.

JJ Pegues was consensus 160’s overall area and he went #180 overall to The Raiders RD6(pick4) so that’s about right. Stackhouse was generally a few DT behind Pegues from what I can remember. Nazir could’ve easily been drafted in RD6-7 and had he put together a 3rd season like 2022,2023 (2nd team SEC) he’s a 5th Round type selection only because he’s not a natural pass rusher.

Nazir actually clipped his Georgia teammate Warren Brinson in the Consensus ranks. They were splitting hairs close though. We took Brinson and naturally, he’s a more well rounded athlete. Yet Stackhouse is probably the better straight out Run Defender. I think this draft had such a thick grouping of DT across Rounds it pushed some of them a Round+ backwards. It’s truly like getting a bonus 6-7th Rounder getting Stack as a UDFA

I'm starting to suspect that, too. We all knew going into the weekend that the enormous glut of defensive linemen and edge rushers was going to push some 1st round players into the 2nd and 3rd, and 2nd round talent down into the 3rd and even 4th rounds, but it also probably muscled Brinson out of the 5th and Stackhouse all the way out of the draft.

I just did a quick count, and of the 257 players drafted this weekend, 39 were DL and 22 were edge rushers. That's 61 players, or 1 out of every 4.2 picks. We picked a good year to need help at DL and edge.

Yes. The beauty also is when you get a player as a UDFA it’s on the super cheap with little $$ or commitment. You really have nothing to lose to see how he does by cutdowns. If he’s blowing it up in Preseason maybe you keep him as the Big Bodied Run Stuffer and there absolutely is a need. Matter of fact some of the more prominent Opponents rely heavily on their Running game. Last year we had what I’d call a very good Run Defense. This year we’ve just added 2 more guys ofc that Georgia Defense and both are proficient against the Run. Actually NFL.com had
-Warren Brinson at a stout 6.20 Draft rating went #198 overall RD6
-TJ Slaton was a 5.80 coming into the NFL and selected RD5 #173 overall
-Nazir Stackhouse split those two prospects and at a very respectable 6.0 Draft rating and went UDFA
