I hope to get one of the Texas boys. Either Golden on O or Jahdae Barron on D.
Jah I’d almost bet my child will be gone. Golden almost as likely.

The Texas players I want and realistically may on Day 2 is Alfred Collins iDL and also Barryn Sorrell EDGE

Yeah well the issue at WR is there ain’t none in Day 1. Meaning It’s thin at the top. One thing I noticed in my interactive Mocks. If team needs are relatively correct in front of us, DL is bountiful in Day 2 into earlier Day3 as what you said happens, WR or CB heat up due to supply and demand issues.

Obviously these Mocks are often based on consensus rankings, however the consensus has been pretty close with a few modest exceptions, especially where it’s easier to predict in RD1-2

I’m saying this because I often get a group of DL who slide across our picks pretty good during Day 2. When I select at DL in Day 1, I almost always regret it because I’m passing on a good one in Day2.

This DL/Edge class is insane and the iDL especially is crazy good - team needs may not be there to some sites but there absolutely is going to be a lot gone in top 50.

Personally I see the following all gone by end of second round:

Graham, Grant, Alexander, Nolen, Harmon, Collins, Sanders, T Williams without question…and some are very high on Turner, Phillips and the TN kid that is escaping me at the moment.

Interesting in seeing Sorrell spanning from early 100’s to 170’s. Where are you thinking? RD4?
I’m more n more ok waiting on DE or DT into that Rd3-5 area if needed.

Sorrell has a third round grade for me personally
Gotcha.
Another player who I think we should hope makes our 3rd Round selection is Jordan Burch. He moved to Oregon recently and had a huge production spike. He’s not our answer inside, but he’s an explosive athlete who I think Hafley could get the best out of.

It seemed to me that he really wanted to play but just couldn't. If you can't make cuts because of the pain; you just can't do it. And I'm doubting that a doctor told him that if he had really bad pain just don't worry about it.
Yeah I never got the feeling that JA was ******* it last year. I think he, the trainers, and the doctors thought he could recover fro the knee injury. Did they let that play out too long? Maybe, but as long as everyone feels there is a chance for an injury to heal enough to play - well gotta take that route.

My biggest fear with JA is that in trying to stay healthy he will not be the player he has been in the past. I could see him making business decisions when it comes to tackling and defending the run. IMO.

Honestly, I think he has been doing that for a number of seasons now. It has been my #1 criticism of him, when he plays. He tends to take plays off if they are on the opposite side of the field from him.

He still would be the best we have imho. Yes, I'd like to see great tackling. But his main job is pass defender. If he doesn't like to get into the middle of a scrum; that's actually ok with me.

Day 3 QBs I would fully support Gute "burning" a pick on....

Fourth - Riley Leonard...being a guy just outside of South Bend, IN - I've seen a TON of Riley Leonard....and he is literally everything I want out of a backup that could become something. His arm strength is adaquate not insane...but this kids athleticism shocks you, his grit is palpable and he will absolutely be a locker room boost. He's played on the biggest of stages and didn't bat an eye, won big games...IF he finds his way to Day3 I would fully embrace this.

Fifth - Kurtis Rourke...more of a pocket guy but a heart of a beast is inside this dude and his touch is gorgeous when he has stable pocket to throw out of.

Sixth/Seventh....I love Seth Henigan from Memphis and Brady Cook from Missouri both are very athletic guys (Cook is crazy athletic) and that is a facet of a backup I really like because things are going to break down and both these guys can make things happen with their feet. Henigan can sling it having broke 3500 yards last three straight seasons and Cook rarely throws a pick and also has a lot of yards behind him.

A little WR talk.

Here are the guys that Gutekunst has drafted at the position:

-Christian Watson, 2022, 33rd Overall: 6041, 208#, 10.00 RAS
-Jayden Reed, 2023, 50th Overall: 5107, 187#, 6.74 RAS
-Amari Rodgers, 2021, 85th Overall: 5094, 212#, 5.37 RAS
-Romeo Doubs, 2022, 132nd Overall: 6017, 204#, 8.28 RAS
-J'Mon Moore, 2018, 133rd Overall: 6025, 207#, 8.43 RAS
-Dontayvion Wicks, 2023, 159th Overall: 6013, 206#, 9.17 RAS
-Marquez Valdes-Scantling, 2018, 174th Overall: 6040, 206#, 9.27 RAS
-Equanimious St. Brown, 2018, 207th Overall: 6046, 214#, 9.84 RAS
-Grant Dubose, 2023, 256th Overall: 6023, 201#, 8.79 RAS
-Samori Toure, 2022, 258th Overall: 6007, 191#, 6.15 RAS

So you have a sample of ten players. Eight of them of 6'+ and 200+#. Seven of them are 8.0+ RAS, and one of those three exceptions was nearly Mr. Irrelevant. And all of this is obviously a trend that goes back beyond Gutekunst's tenure as the GM.

So while the Packers are willing to occasionally draft exceptions, odds are that the receivers they like are going to be 6' or taller, 200+ lbs, and in the 8.00 RAS range or higher.

So here is the consensus board at receiver with those players bolded and the non-qualifiers left un-bolded (because of the lack of testing numbers, I am assuming that McMillan and Burden would be/will be 8.00+ RAS).

9. T. McMillan, Arizona
19. M. Golden, Texas
30. E. Egbuka, Ohio State
34. L. Burden, Missouri
53. E. Ayomanor, Stanford
54. J. Higgins, Iowa State
57. T. Harris, Mississippi
63. J. Bech, TCU

73. J. Noel, Iowa State
75. I. Bond, Texas
82. J. Royals, Utah State
85. X. Restrepo, Miami
94. T. Johnson, Oregon
95. S. Williams, TCU
111. T. Horton, Colorado State
112. K. Williams, Washington State
119. Tai Felton, Maryland
153. D. Thornton, Tennessee

Some others further down the board who fit: Isaiah Neyor (Nebraska), Isaac TeSlaa (Arkansas), Elijhah Badger (Florida), Andrew Armstrong (Arkansas), Sam Brown (Miami)

Always thought it was a good idea to have tall receivers who could grab the ball above the defensive backs. I remember Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper from the Cowboys used to irritate me with that. It didn't help that the refs would call pass interference on us while their corners could mug our receivers all the way down the field.

Not to mention that Irvin would push off on the DB almost every time.

Also right on the fringe: Chimere D!ke, who we have discussed a bit here and there...he is further down the big board (from what I can tell) but has a 9.68 RAS at 6'1", 196lbs.

It's fitting that they have these thresholds with LaFleur as the head coach because of his affinity for condensed set, the way he likes to marry the run and pass, and the subsequent emphasis he puts on run blocking.
