Footwork is an overlooked but very important part of a QB's game, and I don't mean just running. At least initially, that's a coaching issue. But after four years with the team, and entering his thread as the starter, I expect more from Love.

Love gets the benefit of the doubt for last year's injury-impacted season. He will be under a lot of pressure to significantly up his game this year. I hope he can.

Yeah, Love injuring early was absolutely a factor in 2024. Around the time he was getting back close to 100%, he pulled a groin and it compounded the recovery timetable. You’ll notice it was after the Bye that he elevated his game some. Yet he still was not 100% and you can see it in the gameplan and his lack of mobility outside the pocket.

25 attempts for 83 yards across 15 games displays a problem. He’s not a highly mobile QB, but 5 yards per contest is 1-dimensional

Jeremiah dropped his first Top 50 for the 2025 draft.

I know very little about this class, but here's what I notice positionally about his top players at this point:

EDGE: 9 (1, 6, 16, 20, 23, 27, 28, 40, 46)
DT: 7 (4, 18, 22, 26, 39, 42, 50)
WR: 5 (2, 15, 24, 25, 32)
OT: 5 (8, 19, 30, 38, 47)
CB: 5 (9, 12, 43, 44, 45)
TE: 4 (5, 7, 35, 49)
IOL: 4 (14, 17, 31, 48)
RB: 4 (3, 29, 34, 36)
QB: 3 (10, 11, 41)
LB: 2 (13, 37)
SAF: 2 (21, 33)

Jeremiah clearly sees the strength of this class as being the defensive line. That might impact GB's decision regarding Slaton and/or paying for a veteran replacement.

If Jeremiah is correct that the top of this draft is weakest at safety, linebacker, quarterback, and running back, I think that plays nicely into the Packers' hands. Other than signing a veteran linebacker, I don't think they have a real need at any of those positions.

I always wait for and like Jeremiah's rankings every year.

Albert Breer is reporting that the Texans are interested in moving up to at least #22 because they is suspicion that one or both of the Packers and Vikings could take one.

I am never against drafting offensive line. A dominant OL is the 2nd most valuable thing a team can have after a franchise QB. However, I will be surprised if GB does it.

Assuming that Membou, Banks, and Campbell are all long gone and that Simmons is falling because of medicals, there are two names that really feel like Packers:

Josh Conerly, Oregon

Grey Zabel, North Dakota State

Both guys have the size, movement skills, and versatility that the Packers typically target. They're both senior bowlers and neither had an official visit that we know of, which also fits the profile of a Packers' first round pick.

Conerly is a tackle who could play guard. Zable is a guard/center who could play tackle.

Another guy who I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the league is higher on than the media is Aireontae Ersery from Minnesota. He's a little bigger than what they have traditionally drafted, but they've been trending towards bigger players recently and he has the movement skills.

I love Golden, but I don't expect this to happen.

The insiders rarely know what's happening with GB unless it's very close to draft time.

Some observations from Daniel Jeremiah's final mock:

-He has Kelvin Banks all the way up at #6 after he's been in the late 20's, early 30's by consensus (which never made sense).

-Zabel is all the way up at #11. The Zabel hype makes sense to me. He's not who you want as a long-term starting OT, but he can play anywhere and should be really, really good inside. This draft lacks blue chippers and he's about as clean as it gets.

-McMillan, Egbuka, and Golden go #12, #16, and #19 respectively.

-Ezeiruaku, my son, comes off the board at #17 .

-Three QB's go by pick #21.

-Derrick Harmon slips to #24-- again, rumors of medical issues are swirling.

-Mike Green, Will Johnson, Walter Nolen, Josh Simmons fall out entirely.

As for Will Johnson, no 40 time, injury questions in the fore front, overall, this CB class has been just decimated with all the injuries they are trying to work through.

-He has Nolen, Pearce, Green, and Simmons all making it into the first round, but not Will Johnson.

-He has GB taking McMillan, who falls all the way to #23. Fan Duel currently has McMillan's O/U at 12.5. DAL, JAC, CAR, and SEA all have better odds than GB.

Otherwise it's pretty chalky.
