Footwork is an overlooked but very important part of a QB's game, and I don't mean just running. At least initially, that's a coaching issue. But after four years with the team, and entering his thread as the starter, I expect more from Love.

Love gets the benefit of the doubt for last year's injury-impacted season. He will be under a lot of pressure to significantly up his game this year. I hope he can.
Yeah, Love injuring early was absolutely a factor in 2024. Around the time he was getting back close to 100%, he pulled a groin and it compounded the recovery timetable. You’ll notice it was after the Bye that he elevated his game some. Yet he still was not 100% and you can see it in the gameplan and his lack of mobility outside the pocket.

25 attempts for 83 yards across 15 games displays a problem. He’s not a highly mobile QB, but 5 yards per contest is 1-dimensional

Please dear Lord let us not wait until 11pm and drop out of RD1 (2017?) That was the most disappointing Draft I’ve ever witnessed.

Jeremiah dropped his first Top 50 for the 2025 draft.

I know very little about this class, but here's what I notice positionally about his top players at this point:

EDGE: 9 (1, 6, 16, 20, 23, 27, 28, 40, 46)
DT: 7 (4, 18, 22, 26, 39, 42, 50)
WR: 5 (2, 15, 24, 25, 32)
OT: 5 (8, 19, 30, 38, 47)
CB: 5 (9, 12, 43, 44, 45)
TE: 4 (5, 7, 35, 49)
IOL: 4 (14, 17, 31, 48)
RB: 4 (3, 29, 34, 36)
QB: 3 (10, 11, 41)
LB: 2 (13, 37)
SAF: 2 (21, 33)

Jeremiah clearly sees the strength of this class as being the defensive line. That might impact GB's decision regarding Slaton and/or paying for a veteran replacement.

If Jeremiah is correct that the top of this draft is weakest at safety, linebacker, quarterback, and running back, I think that plays nicely into the Packers' hands. Other than signing a veteran linebacker, I don't think they have a real need at any of those positions.
I always wait for and like Jeremiah's rankings every year.

Albert Breer is reporting that the Texans are interested in moving up to at least #22 because they is suspicion that one or both of the Packers and Vikings could take one.

I am never against drafting offensive line. A dominant OL is the 2nd most valuable thing a team can have after a franchise QB. However, I will be surprised if GB does it.

Assuming that Membou, Banks, and Campbell are all long gone and that Simmons is falling because of medicals, there are two names that really feel like Packers:

Josh Conerly, Oregon

Grey Zabel, North Dakota State

Both guys have the size, movement skills, and versatility that the Packers typically target. They're both senior bowlers and neither had an official visit that we know of, which also fits the profile of a Packers' first round pick.

Conerly is a tackle who could play guard. Zable is a guard/center who could play tackle.

Another guy who I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the league is higher on than the media is Aireontae Ersery from Minnesota. He's a little bigger than what they have traditionally drafted, but they've been trending towards bigger players recently and he has the movement skills.

Peter Schrager has Golden for the Packers at #23.

This has been the trend among the guys with the best accuracy track record.

I wouldn't be mad, but I'm just not as high on Golden as others - if we pick him I'll understand it and hopefully he is FAR more than I expect he is in the NFL. Would love to be wrong lol

I love Golden, but I don't expect this to happen.

The insiders rarely know what's happening with GB unless it's very close to draft time.

So just for my own fun (and out of boredom), I went back through the aforementioned "Mock Draft Scores" from Huddle Report. Already posted some of these, but... Looking at the 5-year averages, here are who the top-50 mock drafters* have us taking with our #1 pick.

*Where available/applicable. Some guys haven't published a mock yet, or others post team-specific mocks that aren't really relevant to us. I've added a couple to compensate, So it's kind of a.... modified top-50 :p

*1. Jason Boris, Times News No 2025 mock posted.
2. Brendan Donahue, Sharp Football Analysis Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
3. Xavier Cromartie, Fantasy Football Metrics Grey Zabel, OL, NDSU
4. Lou Pickney, Draft King Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
5. Mike Band, Next Gen Stats/NFL.com Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
6. Eddie Brown, San-Diego Union Tribune Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon
7. Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA Today Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia
8. Ryan McCrystal, Draft Ace/Sharp Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
9. Brian Philpot, Football Hub Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall

20. Jonathan Cook, Huddle Report Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
21. Shawn Baptist, Huddle Report Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
22. Kennedy Paynter, Drafttek Unclear - as far as I can tell Drafttek has individual "team analysts" do each pick for their mocks, and Paynter hasn't done any for us I believe. FWIW their designated Packers "analyst" has us taking Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona.
23. Ben Standig, The Athletic DC Jihaad Cambell, LB, Alabama
24. John Daigle, 4for4 Grey Zabel, OL, NDSU
*25. David P. Woods, TheScore No 2025 mock posted.

48. Benjamin Solak, The Ringer No 2025 mock posted.
49. Kevin Hanson, Eat Drink & Sleep Football Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
50. Ray Mencio, NFL Rough Draft Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

What do we see from this?

CB is by far the most popular projection (18), and specifically Jahdae Barron of Texas (11)

Position-by-position
, it breaks down as follows:
1. CB - 18
2. WR - 8
3. EDGE - 7
4. DL/DT - 4
5. OL - 2
6. LB - 1

Player-by-player, here's what you get:
1. (11) Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
2. (5) Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
Shemar Stewart, EGDE, TAMU
3. (4) Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky
4. (2)Derrick Harmon, DL/DT, Oregon
Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
Grey Zabel, OL, NDSU
Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina
5. (1) Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama
Kenneth Grant, DL/DT, Michigan
Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss
Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

A lot of those guys COULD be there. We haven't talked much about Nolen. The little I read said he could be a force. Maybe there is a personality question? Those usually don't become a problem in the pros imho. They seem blown up most times.

Given that people so rarely get GB's pick correct, I'm feeling like it's going to be Ezeiruaku or Conerly.
