Rodgers has to have a GOOD game against Da Bears and the team has to win for Rodgers to have an outside chance.

Agreed.. while I do think a bad game could still throw it back to Mahomes.... I also think Rodgers is the front runner.
A part of me feels the media begrudgingly gave it to Rodgers after last week, but they want to give it to Mahomes.

If Rodgers plays well but pack loose shouldn’t matter

If he plays bad and lose there might be an issue. Could be co mvp

I'm guessing that most Packer fans consider Rodgers the front runner while most Chiefs fans feel it is Mahommes. And while we are at it Bills/Allen, Titans/Henry, Seahawks/Wilson, Saints/Kamara, vikings...well vikings/anyone but Rodgers.

At this point it really is a close race and honestly if it went to Mahommes I couldn't complain. If Rodgers has another 4 TD no pick game with a rating close to his 119 and the Packers win I think he seals it but if he had 2 TDs a pick a rating less than 100 and the Packers lose and miss the #1 seed I think it goes to Mahommes.

If Rodgers can put up 300+ yards and close the yardage gap it will probably help more than anything as long as he doesn't turn the ball over. That's only category Mahommes has a significant lead in and hopefully voters won't put too much emphasis on the 1 more game thing.

I don't think Rodgers neccessarily has to have a great game but he can't have a bad one. At least 2 TDs no picks a rating above 100 and a win should be enough to get the job done.

Then there is this nagging feeling that more is riding on the outcome of this game than just who gets the #1 seed. Packers win Rodgers gets it, they lose it goes to Mahommes.

All this from a Packer fan of course.

Media members are the ones voting upon the MVP award, so if they want to give it to Mahomes they can make it happen.

Rodgers will have a good game tommorow and in the process secure the number 1 seed and his 3rd mvp award...

The bigger question is will davante adams have a big game and secure the offensive player of the year award...

Adams might have had an outside chance to win the award if he had played in all 16 games. But with him missing nearly three full games I highly doubt he will be getting votes for it.

I've already heard national media talking about it...you're correct it's a definite outside chance. But I think if he goes for 10 200 and 3 he'll garner more votes than you think. And what he's done on a per game basis is pretty much best all time. If he has the game I think he will today, it will be best all time.

100 catchess 1400 yards 15 tds.

Only been done by 3 wrs all time..."catch a pass running like randy moss" goat jerry rice and marvin harrison the og.

And adams gonna do it in 14 games

Rodgers could become the 1st player in NFL history to have 14 games of 100+ passer rating in a single season with a 100+ performance today. That's the MVP.

I think that ties his own record from 2011...but yeah he should win if he has that game. Im hoping for 7 td passes or how about 8 that'd be a nice record to have and a unanimous mvp victory

He sat out the last game in 2011, so he did it in 13 of 15 games. I made the same mistake the other day.

So this thing is over...

Rodgers will have:

70.7% completions (career best)
4,299 yards
48 passing touchdowns (career best)
5 interceptions
8.2 yards/attempt
120+ passer rating
~84-85 QBR
13-3 team record (1st seed in NFC)

Not to mention total touchdowns (passing and rushing) is 51.

Rodgers won his 3rd MVP. There aren't enough delusional voters out there to stop this from happening.

I think the only thing that could happen is if Henry gets the nod for eclipsing the 2,000 figure rushing and winning second rushing title in a row in the process...earned a co-MVP.

I truly think a co-MVP type situation is the only way Rodgers doesn't win it clean or out right.

I mentioned that last night.. didn’t seem like anyone thought that was going to be a factor.... I guess we will see.

I could see a co mvp with Henry

is he as valuable to the Titans as Rodgers is?

The award never has been about truly whom is the most value....if that was the case, Barry Sanders would have won what like 9 years LOL

It's the annual controversary that the MVP award really is not really about who is the most valuable player. It's really about being the best player in the league. I think that the award is 90% based upon stats with the MVP part added in for flavor in a tight race.

It's a tough question between Rodgers and Henry. Rodgers led in TDs and Henry in yards. If you think that both are deserving of the crown, then you go to who is more valuable. Take away Henry from the Titans and put in an average RB (Miles Sanders [Phi] had the 15th most yards) and I don't think that their offense would be in the top half of the league. They have decent WRs and a marginal game manager at QB.

Similarly if you take away Rodgers and replace with an average QB (Baker Mayfield [Cle] had the 15th most TDs), I think that the Packers offense would still be hovering around the top 10. They would still have three good RBs, Davante Adams, and Tonyan.

This makes me think that Henry is more valuable. However, I think that Rodgers had the better stats at his position, and was the better player.

Notable accomplishments by each:

Derrick Henry 2020

5th all-time with 2,027 rushing yards (only 8 have ever cracked 2,000)
11th all-time with 126.7 yards per game
T-15th all-time with a 94 yard rush in 2020 (Henry tied Tony Dorsett in 2018 with a 99 yard run)
19th all-time with 378 rushing attempts

Aaron Rodgers 2020
2nd all-time with QB rating of 121.5 (Rodgers also holds 1st place with a 122.5 rating in 2011)
T-5th all-time with Dan Marino at 48 TDs
6th all-time with a 70.7% pass completion percentage (Brees holds 4 of the 5 top spots)
T-13th all-time with himself (2014) at 1.0% for lowest interception rate (Rodgers holds the best rate of 0.3% in 2018 and 6th best of 0.7% in 2019)
15th all-time with 9.1% TD percentage (Peyton Manning is the only other QB in modern era with a higher rate of 9.9% in 2004)
* 108 other QBs have had better passing yards seasons than Rodgers did in 2020
