What can we learn from KC Chiefs?

Sorry guys but ANY team that makes it to the big game, their QB deserves at the very least respect.

When Denver won their last SB, Peyton was next to useless. Had stats wise than his rookie year and worst of his career. 9 TDs and just over 2000 yards all season.

He's the first to acknowledge that the team (Def especially) carried him and acknowledged that in ESPY awards publicly.

We've had cases like Dilfer who won SBs with an abysmal season record and decidedly unworthy QB performances.

Now this has nothing to do with Jimmy or SF, but just disputing your claim that QB must have a role in team success. Evidently not.

Sorry guys but ANY team that makes it to the big game, their QB deserves at the very least respect. There were times in that game were Mahomes looked ordinary. Sure he rallied but if people can say he was 100% brilliant were clearly watching a different game from me.

hard for any qb to look brilliant against that defense in San Fran. The league's MVP had a hard time doing much against them and only put up 20 pts... an in-season low for them (not counting their playoff meltdown).

Well other than Wilson and Brady, no one really else has made the SB twice. Both of which had arguable top 5-10 defenses.

Guys, I`m sorry but I am making a point here and here it is , I find it funny that people are ripping into Garapollo or however the hell you spell it, by saying he`s not a premium QB, but if as I point out our very own premium QB WHO hasn`t taken us to a superbowl since 2012, you get all defensive ?? My point is.....Jimmy G played a good game and lost but still was a contributing factor to the 49ers getting to the SB in the first place. I thought we were classier than that. Credit were credit is due, come on ?

I look at it this way. If you're an NFL QB and you have a really strong defense and a really strong run game and really good playmakers around you, it is damn easy these days to look good when everything is going well. It's when you get some pressure thru the line, or you get behind and are forced to make an offense go rather than just work within it from the comfy position of a lead or the run game isn't working or you have very limited play makers and you still find ways to get it done that separate the average QB's from the Elites like Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Favre, etc.

JG isn't close to that category and their own coach tries to limit his exposure every game, including the last one. Give JG a defense that can give up 30+ at the drop of a hat, they likely don't even make the playoffs because he won't be able to keep up. Put JG on this team and all those gloom and doomers that said we weren't even a 6 win team this year would likely be right. and i'm not sure Reid gets a super bowl title if Rodgers is QB for San Fran. Not sure why you'd compare the 2, i don't think there is any comparison to be made.

while not perfect, he's still elite and has proved it many times over. The only thing JG has shown me is he can be good when everything is good and when HAS to be good, he's worse.

He did have that drive against NO to be fair. But at the same time that was probably more Kittle if anything.

I think that is more down to misery and despair at the moment...lol. Look, I appreciate he doesn`t set the world on fire, but he can`t be that bad. I also find it funny (not aimed at you here) that when our own QB has played ****** games...(waits for it !!) we always say the team let him down.

I don't either. He isn't an elite QB but you can win with a guy like him if you surround him with a lot of talent. If you look at the offensive talent on KC and SF the Chiefs had the more dynamic receivers.

I am really not sure why you want to keep bringing a Rodgers into this conversation. The original point was that many of us are not convinced that Garapolo is a great QB on his own. Nobody but you has mentioned Rodgers and we have plenty of threads discussing him.

I was and am making the point that he isn`t as bad as some are saying. I think it is unfair based on the fact with him at QB the team beat us AND got to the Superbowl. IF people attacked ours, we`d be up in arms, which appears you are with me.
He`s not a loud mouthed braggard. He clearly is a skilfull QB or THEY wouldn`t have selected him. I`m using Rodgers as a comparison because that is all I have go on. THAT was my point. It didn`t warrent a private conversation as I was addressing an issue in a thread.
