I'm glad they lost. I think it is a good thing. Them not just losing, but the way they lost I feel will be beneficial for the Packers. It's never easy to come a off a bad game like that and play good the next week, especially when the next game is (potentially) a pigtail playoff game.

As for them going into the game desperate, The Packers will also be desperate. It may just be me, but in a game with a desperate Aaron Rodgers and desperate Matthew Stafford playing to keep their seasons alive, my money is going for AR 10 our of 10 times.

Packers would because they hold the SOS tiebreaker over the Bucks.

Thanks......I assume SOS means Strength Of Schedule ?

Not that it applies to this weekend's Packers-Lions game (since it's in Detroit) but I have to wonder if the NFL gives one shred of thought to the fans that attend these games and then have to drive home afterward, particularly in snow.

I don't know, I vastly prefer the noon games. I can never get to sleep after the late games.

There again with enough BEER I can sleep through anything.

After watching Detroit secondary last night, if Slade is too hurt to play vs the Packers, Adams should have a big night. Why did Detroit put their free agent cb on Dez? That made no sense.

After watching Detroit secondary last night, if Slade is too hurt to play vs the Packers, Adams should have a big night. Why did Detroit put their free agent cb on Dez? That made no sense.

Because we literally had no one else. The Detroit corners from last night:
Asa Jackson (who they took from Baltimore practice squad 2 weeks ago)
Nevin Lawson (normal starter, just isn't terribly good)
Johson Bademosi (special teams guys who never, EVER gets snaps on defense)

Prior to the Giants game, they made up for the deficiencies by running some 3 safety looks that were actually REALLY effective. Haven't seen that in 2 weeks though. I attribute that to the Caldwell effect (changing something that is working for no good damn reason at all).

With Slay hurt (and probably out next week too), and Quandre Diggs on IR, this is likely who you'll be facing. Good luck to us.....

It also doesn't help that Swanson (starting C) is still out. When he is gone, the starting LG (Glasgow) moves to C, and the two choices for LG are Laken Tomlinson (human tackling dummy) and Joe Dahl (rookie with about 4 snaps of playing time this year). They started Tomlinson in Dallas, but he got benched for just being the worst, and Dahl came in, and promptly reminded us all that he is an untested rookie.

To their credit, Detroit came out with some fire last night. Zach Zenner came out of nowhere and lit up the Cowboys D. In the first half, he had 10 carries for 64 yards and 2 TDs in the first half. So what did Detroit do in the 2nd half? They pulled him for Dwayne Washington who had like 27 yards on 7 or 8 carries. Zenner only got the ball twice in the 2nd half. WTF!? More Caldwell effect for you.

Long story short, if the injuries they dealt with against Dallas persist, and Caldwell continues to get out-coached/coach poorly, then I don't really see how Detroit can win. It pains me to say this after how this season has gone, but I'm guessing we miss the playoffs entirely this year.

Maybe he's saving them for this week. Honestly Dallas game means nothing in bigger picture. It's the Packers game that decides the season for both teams....so makes sense to pull off and protect the difference makers.

Maybe. A win last night would have clinched a wild card spot. I suppose Detroit at moderate-full health has a better shot at beating Green Bay at home than Dallas on the road. But this isn't the first time this year these sorts of things have been happening. All year long they have abandoned things that are working.

I always remember my coaches generally having the same basic philosophy: If something is working, keep doing it. Make the other team adjust to what you're killing them with, and THEN you adjust what you are doing.

The Lions are more: This keeps working, but I'm sure they'll catch on. Let's change it before they do.

Gentlemen's agreement, we all take knees for 5 quarters, nobody gets hurt, we win the division but no one gets eliminated and both teams advance .

Only losers are the fans that paid to go to the game and the Washington Redskins.

The Packers have signed WR Antwan Goodley to the practice squad and put TE Devon Cajuste on the practice squad injured list.

I like this. Too bad for Cajuste wish both Goodley and Cajuste were on our practice squad ready to promote! Goodley I enjoyed watching at Baylor and hoped we brought him in as UDFA. He has an odd body for WR but he gets deep somehow catches tough balls and isn't bad after the catch. This is a nice pickup IMO

Players we see make big plays or impact plays. Michael should be a handful of snaps vs Lions. His burst and quickness I see helping us pick up critical 1st downs. Our Guards need to have big run blocks to open up lanes for TyMo and Michael. Lacy ran over 100yds vs them this year so we can rack up yards on the ground. Cobb I think comes back healthier and has big game in the slot with big run after the catch plays. Linsley stalemates Ngata in the middle. On defense Guion pushes back the pocket and beats rookie Glasgow regularly. Guion and Lowry make run stops at the line. Fackrell logs another sack on Stafford. Brice logs INT vs Stafford. Randall steps up and plays like the player we drafted 1st round. Gunter is really needed hopefully he can play and throw Tate off with some physical play. Packers win 24-14.

I gotta tell ya that the way Detroit was playing in the first half all I could think of was $#!/. With our defense this will be a tough one. Our DL does not collapse the pocket very often and our DB's have been less than stellar. I think the offense can go a long way but I am afraid that Stafford and the offense are gonna kill us.

Hope I'm wrong and the D surprises me but am very concerned.

I felt exactly the same way watching last night's game. If we can't pressure Stafford or if we dig a big hole early, it's gonna be a long night. And hopefully if we are ahead, we will continue to pile on for once, like Dallas did. No garbage time there.

I wouldn't say that the Dallas game meant nothing. Detroit still had the potential of winning out and getting a 1st round bye.

Still might be a first to score 40, wins.

I never heard of the practice squad; injured list. Can other teams sign players off this list ?

I read he was put on IR.....I don't think there is a "PS injured list". He was seen using crutches at team facility but the specifics of his injury were not disclosed.

Will be interesting to see how AR and the Packer offense perform in "warm weather". Feels like they have been playing in cold conditions for over a month now.
