Vikings offensive issues is masking some issues with their run defense which over the last two weeks has given up 375 yards. Last year in the playoffs their defense showed some holes. Are teams finding some again?

A couple weeks ago, our bad losses (like Arizona) were frustrating but seemed relatively inconsequential because the playoffs seemed distant/unlikely. How I wish to have some of those back now...

I'll take meaningful 'SO YOU'RE SAYIN' THERES A CHANCE!' football games for as long as the football Gods will allow it this year. Better than having to slog through a month of games that don't matter.

Isn't there a Viking fan that usually comes on here? Raptorman or something? Definitely would love to hear his thoughts. From what I've seen over the years he seems like a good logical Vikings fan.

We did win in week 2. It ended with a game clinching interception and the NFL and refs decided that wasn't the proper ending and made a game stealing decision to take that W away.

Unfortunately the standings don't reflect that though.

Look what the bills did against them lol
Minnesota is minus 8.5 vs Miami...but you never know. Dolphins always play hard, and they're fighting for their playoff lives.

Do the Vikings have a solid win this year?

Current wins - Packers, Lions, Cardinals, 49ers, Jets, and Eagles. Not a single win against a team who is 500 or better

They have losses to good teams - Saints, Rams, Patriots, Bears, Seahawks, and the a bad one to bills. But if i am not mistaken none of those losses where incredibly close. I am pretty sure the Rams loss was the only one they had the ball with a chance tie late in the game. They scored late tds vs a couple teams to make it closer. It isnt like they have had a lot of close losses and impressive wins. They have been very average. Not saying the Packers have been better but the Vikings have not really played better

Bears will be fighting for a wild card round bye in the last week.
But Minnie will lose to both Dolphins and Lions.
Assuming the Bears lose to the Packers (which is what has to happen for the Packers to have a chance) that will put the Bears at 5 losses. The Rams, nor the Saints, are going to lose their last 3 games.

The Bears would have almost no chance at a 1st round bye in that scenario.

I think the only saving grace we have is that there isnti much tape on Philbin calling plays and managing a game. This is could benefit us...maybe lol

It could. He pretty much just has to do whatever McCarthy didn't and live with the results. Based on the Falcons game, so far so good.

*For the record, I don't think he should be head coach for next season. However, I would like to see him on staff for 2019.

You believe in unicorns and leprechauns too don't you? :D:D

Sorry Raptor, if you are reading this again I couldn't resist. Its just that when you have a setup like that you have to take it. I do value your contributions here. You do seem like one of the good ones and its all in the spirit of the rivalry.

It's still possible the Bears would have the third seed to play for in that scenario. I don't know if that's enough not to rest your starters though.

A new head coach should be allowed to appoint his own staff, no reason to hold on to Philbin.

Yeah.. I know. Raptor is a Wisconsin boy who just chooses to march to a different drummer.

I mean, he could have been a drunk...a carouser, a compulsive gambler ... A dc ouble agent for the former Soviet Albanian Secret Police...but noooooo...he had to go be a Vikings fan

Yeah but still wouldn't they rather be the 3 seed over Dallas ? Maybe not I guess if that 3 seed means you face Aaron Rodgers in the first round. It's kind of a tough situation for the bears because it's almost the smarter play to make sure Green Bay isn't in even if that means intentionally losing to the Vikings in that final game and becoming the 4th seed instead of hanging onto the 3

In truth I wouldn't put it past Chicago to go this route should we beat them this week. That would DEFINITELY be the smart move. Cowardice, perhaps, but smart. But if they do indeed do that then they know they are our whipping boys no matter how much they'll deny it. To be the man you have to beat the man. Again I wouldn't fault them, it certainly would be smart, but at the same time one often meets their destiny on the path they take to prevent.

I don't think intentionally losing a game to avoid a specific opponent would be setting a standard Nagy or most other head coaches in the league would be confortable with.
