For all the talk about Love throwing more INTs this season, I think his ability to avoid sacks is underrated. His current sack percentage is 3.14%, the lowest in the league. Last year, it was 4.93%, a little higher, but still 5th in the NFL. It's 4.24% for this career thus far.
By comparison, after Rodgers' first two years as a starter, his sack percentage was 7.57%. For his career, it's 6.48% and he's only had one season below 5%. In fact, Rodgers has finished in the top ten only once in his entire career. Favre was a bit better than Rodgers, but still not as good as Love, at 4.91%.
Obviously, the offensive line plays a big role in sack percentage, but I do think Love is just very good at avoiding sacks. He doesn't hold on to the ball forever like Rodgers often did, who took far too many untimely sacks. I would even say that Love's ability to avoid sacks has offset his higher-than-average INT rate this year (to some degree at least), given that sacks are drive-killers. It doesn't factor into the passer rating but is an important skill nonetheless.
