The Packers have signed DL Joey Mbu. He went undrafted in 2015 after being collegiate ball at Houston and has appeared in nine NFL games for the Falcons and Colts over the past three seasons.

Camp body, in all likelihood. The good thing is that his last name only has three letters, so the Pack saves a few pennies on stitching before they cut him.....

If these rookies don't workout, line him up across from Adam's until GMo gets it; although I hear EQSB is showing out in mini camp.

Update on my wishlist for available FA’s

1. Connor Barwin- Veteran with lots of 3-4 experience. Gives us more experience and depth at our shallowest position
2. Dez Bryant- lots of unknowns at WR. Would love to have another big outside reciever. Sign him cheap and cut him if he gets rowdy.
3. Eric Reid- would love some more experience on the back end. Would give us lot of flexibility to move him and Jones around and let pettine get creative.
4. Bashaud Breeland- can never have to much CB depth. Could let House go and upgrade talent but still has experience.
5. Navarro Bowman- ILB is shallow. Could give us a great leader and experience.
6. Robert Ayers- need pass rush and sounds like he could be a good 3 or 4 pass rusher.
7. Jonathan Hankins- Good backup nose. Probably wants too much money but would’ve great to have behind Clark
8. Kenny Vaccaro- same as Reid just not as talented.
9. Eric Decker- Same as Bryant but less upside. But probably the much safer bet and the more I think of it he would be a great fit.
10. Jeremy Maclin- Same as Decker

Decker and Maclin are worth a look if they don't think any of the young WR's can offer anything or later in camp if there is an injury. At this point I don't see them moving on another WR right now. though one of them would probably be better than a rookie today, they won't be next year if that rookie can develop at all. and right now, this team needs new guys going forward as Cobb could be gone as soon as next year and Adams is the only real core WR we have right now. Unless we want to perpetually be in the new, old WR game year after year we need to identify and develop some guys now. old guys will only hinder that.

Ayers and Reid i'd be interested in though Reid is probably not an option with the lawsuit. But I think both guys would offer us some pretty decent production. Breeland was coveted by everyone and now his FA contract was voided and he still sits unsigned. Not sure what is going on there, but there is a reason eveyone is cool on him now. After the investment they've made in others, I'm not sure he's an option at this point anyway. Pre-draft i thought a FA DB was a given and a high priced one likely. Post draft, i'm not sure they're even looking at DB's right now other than who's on their team to see if they're sticking with them or not.

I wouldn't spend more than $2 - $3 mil total, on a one year deal, for injury replacements only. This is a retrenchment year. You're going to need all the cap you can muster next season.

Ayers and Decker or Maclin in case none of the rookies are ready to contribute currently present intriguing options for the Packers. The team shouldn't be interested in any other players on that list.

At this point, I'm not expecting any more additions. I think they'll take a wait and see approach to how things are going in training camp, and go from there.

WOW.. Buccaneers just released Hybrid/WILL LB Deone Bucannon.... I wonder what he could do in THIS Mike Pettine Defense???

Trying to find anything on his release. Not injured. Cut prior to Bucs flight to London. Really weird, as TB has been short at the position with Devin White injury. I can't figure it out. Buccanon had experience in their DC's system too in ARI. He got zero D snaps in TB's loss to NO. 12 ST snaps.

Really weird, as he is (was?) a top talent.

Interesting. Watch the Browns go out and sign him, they are struggling with rookie Mack Wilson being forced to play ILB due to an injury.

I really liked Bucannon when he was with Arizona, but can't find anything as to why he is being released. Hard to not think that even if his game has dropped off some, he wouldn't be an upgrade to the roster and a quality backup to Burks.

I cannot find one thing to explain his release... other than White may be returning from injury, and they are about 4 players deep at LB. Buccanon is a great team guy too, super versatile. Only player on their roster listed as LB/S. Started 56 of 70 games under Bruce Arians 2015-17. Willing to play anywhere, especially on STs... he loves it. Just insanely weird, and I would love to see Gutes throw in on him. Former 1st Round selection 2014.

Old, but good: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...annon-key-to-cardinals-d?campaign=Twitter_atn

Also, wondering if this is a move away from the "Hybrid?" https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...7-is-barely-playing-and-concerns-are-growing/

To me, if that is what DOES fit Pettine's scheme, and I believe he does to a T... go get him! I mean, if you could have either of Josh Jones or Deone Buccanon to start your season, Mike Pettine? Who would you take? I'm sure that answer would be Buccanon in a heartbeat.

Interesting stuff on that. Last season he was not a fit in ARI new DC's scheme. 2017 he played injured for most of the season with an ankle. 80+ Tackles each year 2015-2017. Allowed 0.75 yds per coverage snap in 2016, ranking him #6. In 2015 missed only 4 of 54 tackles in coverage, ranking #4.

His coverage grades were rock solid up until the ankle injury. Questionable run D ratings though...

Some of his injury history: https://sportsinjurypredictor.com/player/deone-bucannon/6957

I also found this, which backs up some of what you just pointed to, Dantes:

This last article is interesting as well... https://www.bigblueview.com/2019/2/...ucannon-a-free-agent-the-giants-should-target

Boasted an 86.1 coverage score in 2016 until his late season ankle injury which required surgery. His two best seasons were playing SS with some LB mixed in 2015-2016.

Coming off the ankle surgery in 2017, there was talk of his being misused/overused.. his snap counts were 42 upon returning week 4, 67 week 5 and 70 week 6, 80 week 7, 72 week 9... I can see where his numbers might have suffered big time under those conditions. By week 12 he went out injured after 5 snaps for remainder of the season.

Four different injuries to the left foot and ankle? I've said it before and I'll say it again: 1) body parts are not necessarily like your brake rotors where you go in and out and 100% back to normal and 2) toes, feet, ankles can be very troublesome; this is a game played from the ground up.

It's possible to have the same body parts repeatedly damaged, fixed up each time to the extent that a guy can pass a physical if you want him to, but he's permanently impaired.

I don't know if that's the problem here. It's possible he lost his twitch which starts with the feet.
