Romo is really really good. Dude loves football and gets really into the games.

I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and their radio announcer, Joe Bowen, as also great. He loves the leafs and calls the games with such passion.

I'm not sure who Tony Romeo is. But Tony Romo does pretty good.. Same with Troy Ackmen, but Troy Aikman sucks as an announcer and never knows what he's talking about.

I love how Romo breaks down the plays and whatnot. You can tell he is having fun up there. This may not be a popular one but I actually like Joe Buck. I don't like Aikman, but Buck does a pretty solid job. I don't see why he gets a lot of flak personally. I especially like when he says PASS IS PICKED OFF!

The new Monday night football team drives me to distraction.

Romo is very good. I know no one else like him but I like Chris Collinsworth. He is not as full of himself as so many others are and when he makes mistakes he acknowledges it. He doesn't stop making them but at least he admits it.

On a side note I just watched "42" last night. Was Red Barber really that boring as an announcer as portrayed by John C. McGinley.

You right, unfortunately Joe Buck is degraded along with the mention of Aikman because they work together.
Of the two, yes. Joe Buck isn't that bad

Romo's good though I liked him better when he first started than now. When he started out, he did a lot of playing the QB---pre-sanp he'd read the defense, identify vulnerabilities or mismatches, and call the play. He does less of that now. I'd surmise the network has coached him away from that as being too wonky for the average fan.

I waw one game this year with Charles Davis. He's very detailed and talks about things that matter. He doesn't bring excess emotion to the proceedings which I suppose makes him forgettable for a lot of fans.

I really dislike Collinsworth. He's good breaking down a replay and the occasional pre-snap read, but when analyzing spontanously he gets a lot of stuff wrong. And he doesn't modulate emotion. EVERYTHING is is a big deal with him. Lulls are a natural part of football games. Collinsworth can turn a second quarter 3-and-out into some game changing, momentum shifting event with the same emotion as a big play.

Can I extend my post here and ask what do you think of the sports broadcasters when they speculate
on players/coaches/and teams?

Like many said McCarthy shouldn't of been fired before the season ended.
Or what's wrong with Rodgers etc. etc.

Buck's OK, but he's better at baseball while not being good at all covering golf.

Aikman is just kinda blah--flair for the obvious, not a lot of insight coming out of his homework, and he has his fair share of missing the point.

My only knock on Romo is that he is the guy who jumps in and says the punch line of a joke.. I enjoy his banter.. He calls out the play before it's runned and I'm left with a shrug of thanks bud..

But Al Micheals for me and the Masters Legend Jim Natz...(sp)

There was no better football broadcasters than Ray Scott and Tony Canadeo.
The clowns they trot out nowadays couldn't carry their water.

You must hate listening to Wayne Larivee then. The RB makes 4 cuts and breaks 3 tackles and it sounds like he is taking it to the house and he is finally brought down for a gain of a yard.

I see all the issues that people have with Collinsworth but I guess they just don't bother me as much.

Forgot about Ray Scott. Don't ever recall listening to Tony. Dad made sure we were someplace to "watch" the game so I didn't here much radio back in the day. Don't remember the announcers when I was young.

Larivee doesn't bother me that much because I mostly tune him out. The Game Pass radio broadcast lags the ESPN play-by-play so I know the outcome before he makes the call. Then I listen for any color McCarren may have on it.

While it is very rare that announcers enhance or detract from my viewing experience, I gotta say that the new MNF crew is an abject disaster

Tony Canadeo, former Packers fullback, was Ray Scotts color man.
I don't remember the radio announcers from back in those days either.

I will go with Al Michaels. An old radio personality who's voice I used to love was Lindsey Nelson. I think he did a lot of college games. I doubt very many will remember him but I just loved his voice and I guess he did T.V. too.
What I don't like about a lot of TV announcers is that they so often do not call out players names on tackles. And I don't like it when they say "3rd and long" which can mean (for them) anywhere from 5 to 35 yards. I think they should work harder and call a game a bit like it was radio. That way I would not have to listen to as much BS. Oh yeah, I dislike a lot of the meaningless stats they come up with. I mean, you can come up with some inane stat on every single play if you want.
