Couple articles to refresh your memory:

He's obviously not eligible for the Draft, and I wouldn't spend more than a 6th or 7th anyway for a guy 3-4 years removed from football; but I think a Practice Squad designation to see what he could do is worthwhile. A lot of times PS players are guys who hardly ever stay in the league more than 1-2 years and here is a guy who was a projected 1st Round pick in 2016.

He was acquitted of his legal issues, so in my opinion, the "character concerns" label should be lifted until he proves otherwise.

From my research, it seems he's actually lost weight vs gained it being out of football(270 now vs 290 at the 2016 combine), so a whole offseason of NFL strength & conditioning while literally paying a guy peanuts and who knows what we might have in 2020.

I'm only expecting a few die-hards to chime in but thoughts are appreciated.

That's correct, he's not eligible to be drafted. I was highlighting that point to illustrate how minute the risk is taking a chance on him. The minimum salary would be $480k for 1 year if he made the active roster, and roughly about $90k if he just rode the practice squad for a year, pennies on the dollar if he were to actually take off in a year or so. I'll defer to Gute/LeFleur if they think they can find 10 players with a better skill set to take a flyer on, but usually guys who had 1st Round Grades don't end up on Practice Squads.

I think this is a guy who has to prove himself via spring league, CFL, whatever developmental league you can think of before I'd consider a roster/practice/training camp spot on him.

Now that you've opened up that can of worms I'd say training camp in the very least. Players only make about $4500 for training camp. The roster inflates to 90 during the Preseason, so a guy who had a 5.59 rating at the NFL Combine 3 years ago to me deserves a spot in someone's training camp vs a player who was a longshot to even make any Practice Squad in the league.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Way to increase your post count dude.

While Oakman was projected by several experts to be a first round pick in 2015 his performance declined a year later and he would have most likely dropped significantly in '16.

With him not having played football for three years and several legal issues the Packers should definitely pass on him.

So much uncertainty in this post. What I am getting is the feeling that you think he is worth taking a look at. I just wish you would have made it a little clearer as to what you were saying.

The language I would choose to make myself more clear would get me kicked off the site.

I'm sure there's guys in the CFL with a 5.59 rating. I'm not willing to go hunting for that info though, lol. Three years away from playing meaningfully is a pretty big red flag for me, just my opinion.
