A team acquiring Daniels would have to pay him $8.1 million in 2019. That isn't cheap for his production at this point in his career by any means.
franchise tags for dt's is $15m+ this year so the 8.1 is cheap for a guy his quality. i'm just saying getting something for him would be better than just cutting him...which, if they're really going to make an attempt at the playoffs, they shouldn't do. they're going to need him. he's better than anyone they have other than clark. they should shop him first if they're determined to get rid of him for some reason.

I would definitely prefer the Packers to get something in return for Daniels in a trade than to release him. But it's unrealistic to expect another team being interested in acquiring him at the current salary as his play has regressed, the injuries have piled up and he turned 30 this month.

that's the formula for success though in GB. Trade the guys we think are underperforming for big picks and dump salary because other teams are just chompin' at the bit to overpay for them. And then sign super stars away for pennies because they all want to play in GB

lol. that hasn't been the pats formula though. they trade off good players nearing the ends of their contracts for draft picks and sign mid to low priced free agents. btw...i don't think daniels is underperforming that much myself. that's why i'd keep him over just cutting him.

I'm quite sure Mondio was being sarcastic because Packers fans expect other teams to line up trading for their overpaid players.
