Ya and the lions have been the perfect model of an elite NFL franchise since they played hardball with the best player in franchise history.

I agree with the emotional sentiment of your views 100% however simply never trying to get something in return that caliber of player would simply not be in the best interest of the team just as it never helped the lions be anything other than the one of the worst run NFL franchises of the last 30 years
I truly take your point but, how many Superbowls has he won for us ?. Every year we get the same crap of how we let HIM down, never how he let US down. This is about the Green Bay Packers not Aaron Rodgers. I`m sorry but that is how I feel about this petulant little boy now. I was damn good at my job, but when the civil aviation authority changed the format of my job I just got on with it. Why did we have to discuss anything about the draft with him ? an incredibly well paid multi millionaire.
I know I`m British and don`t fully understand the complexities of the NFL, but this guy is getting on my nerves now.

Believe me I feel the same way, I am actually more pissed of at a professional athlete (that hasn’t commuted a serious felony) than I have ever been. The whole situation is just infuriating.

It seems like people are getting more upset at ARod all of a sudden and I wonder why. He hasn't said or done anything for quite awhile now.

I think that's part of it. Rodgers could take away all of the uncertainty and he still does nothing. The longer he says nothing the more upset people get.

It's understandable if he's angry about certain decisions the front office has made, but he still should be responsible enough to do his job. There's angry, and there's taking his ball and going home, which is what he is doing.

I had been confident that this was going to be worked out, that's what my gut was telling me. But the longer it drags on the less optimistic I am about that. Today, I don't feel like we see him in a Packer uniform again.

Sorry but I`d let him. He`d be desperate for us to beg him to return, rather like Barry Sanders agent did. He`s not bigger than the organisation full stop.
As I said earlier. I’d have an impromptu meeting and make sure they understand it’s a 1 strike rule…, Id send everyone home, every last player and position coach. Going forward anyone that talks about playing for another team sits on the bench or is sent home and we respond by making a public statement that they will no longer be playing or working for us immediately (or anyone if they are under contract Eg Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams etc).

We should make it clear we are fully committed to them not showing back up to work any longer if that’s the case.

We need to start acquiring players who don’t spread cancer. I’d specifically call out Davante Adams by name, thumb pointed backwards at the open door and tell him this is his opportunity to leave for good if he wants to go. Go now and we are fully prepared for that to happen.
if he doesn’t want to play for the Packers he can take the year off, no stats, no contract offers here. We will have a zero toleration rule for players not fully committed and who by doing do, they indirectly being the entire team down in that manner. Anyone children going publicly against the Packer family gets taken out of the Will, so to speak.

Trust me here, respectfully let a few great athletes walk or sit them with no playing time or no future contract offers if they pull the media bit, but with a 1 time warning. Public comments about playing for other teams will no longer be tolerated, not even 1%.

Id then continue with the Queen Premadonna Aaron Rodgers and call and leave him a VM in front of the other players. Make it clear to him that IF he comes back? he’s benched as a #3 QB I’m serious as a heart attack.

We are about to sail unchartered waters. It’s likely a 1-2 year step backwards anyway. Cut the cancer and set precedent now while we’re in rebuild. We will 99% lose some children, but we will have the remaining men fully committed and with laser focus.

You do realize these aren’t highschool players. They’re professionsls, they play for money. A better deal comes along and they can go? Bam… they’re gone (if they’re smart)…. Same way for the team… a better option comes along they cut a guy and bring in fresh meat. I’m retired now but I moved to better situations several times. This rah rah BS is delusional.

You make some very good points although I would say that waiting until the very last second to hike the ball takes away from all that. And I disagree a little about drawing them offsides is not so important. I still think he is not as effective as he used to be. And I do think about that during the games while he is doing his thing.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying getting guys to jump and getting free plays isn't important. It is, hugely important as it's obviously a big advantage. But it's just not the whole story...as Rodgers controls the defense a bit with his cadence on every snap. He doesn't always wait til last second to snap the ball...sometimes you hit em with the quick count. It's kinda akin to being the play caller you gotta mix it up. Stay unpredictable and I think Rodgers does that better than anyone

Packers are going to hold joint practices with the Jets. I fear the blowback if he who would be king was not consulted. He hates joint practices almost as much as he hates his Dad.
I remember someone (Sternberger) got hurt during the last one. These 3rd and 4th string players who won't make the team are out to do something special. Like knock someone out. I'm not really for these kind of practice games.

The more this lingers on, the more angry at Rodgers I'm becoming. I saw the PFF piece that the Packers have 4 players in the top 15. I saw a piece earlier with the Packers have 6 in the top 100 (and 2 that just missed). All that talent the FO assembled and has ready to go. This could have been our best chance at a SB in the last 20 years or so. Some key defensive pieces are young and are still getting better.

All that doesn't matter to AR. He is only concerned with his feelings.

It's just so selfish and so self-centered. He doesn't care as much about the Packers, the fans, or his teammates as much as I thought.

I regret we didn't trade him on draft day.

How much do you "care" about your employer?

I care only that my employer pays me...I have no loyalty to them. I simply enter into an agreement with them to trade my time for money because unfortunately I need money to survive

you obviously didn’t just see what happened in Dallas. Jerry Jones asked for the Resignation of anyone not standing for the national anthem. It was very clear he wasn’t joking. Would you like to take a guess at how many players kneeled that next week or at any Dallas game since?
Let me help you here. ZERO

So with all due respect. The vast majority of These guys are men and thankfully they also understand supporting their employer is not only important. It is required. If you can’t understand that and you were weak enough to quit your job under contract because your employer made it clear that’s what they require. I wouldn’t want you as an employee. If you can’t handle Rah rah in a meeting? then you definitely can’t handle the pressure of being a champion.

With no opt out it appears Aaron will be playing for the Packers in 2021. Because there's no chance the Packers are trading him now (until 2022 anyway).

Wow!!! So because Jerry Jones, a billionaire threatened the livelihood of his highest paid employees by saying either agree with my opinion or forgoe your paycheck...and all the players chose to continue taking the money means that they support their employer?

on one hand I get more annoyed it's not just settled yet and on the other didn't they miss TC one year or something and everyone was like, they aren't practicing they're going to suck and the Saints had their QB led practices outside of the NFL and everyone praised them. Then we we beat them when the season started and Rodgers was like, maybe we should have practiced more LOL Someone will definitely have to fact check me on that as i'm old and forgetful these days

But I can see him coming back week 1 and playing lights out and be like I told you guys not to believe everything you hear in the media. and as long as he plays well for the Packers, I don't even care.

RELAX… and think (if you are true Packers fan). I have been one since 1966. What would Vince think of what ARod is doing? Would Bart Starr have ever done what ARod is doing? With all the drama that #4 caused, was it as bad as this?

Answers: Vince would have started a 3rd stringer over waiting on multi-millionaire ARod having his diva, crybaby bshit episode.

Starr would never have acted like either #4 nor ARod.
Jim Ringo our All Pro center walked into Lombardi's office and introduced his AGENT TO Lombardi saying "my agent will negotiate my future contracts"

Ringo was one of the 1st to have an agent

Lombardi excused himself came back into the office moments later and told Ringo " take your Agent to Philly...you have just been traded"

That is an unfortunate way to go through life. I'm sorry.

Old School I can just see all of the free agents just lining up to sign with Green Bay right after that impromptu meeting of yours.

At this point, I'm inclined to think that Rodgers will be back by week 1. The front office is holding firm that they won't trade him, and unless they get an insane offer, there is no reason to trade him until after the season, when they know what draft picks they'd be getting. So, the way I see it, Rodgers has two options: 1. Play for the Packers in 2021. Or 2. Don't play at all in 2021. I just think Rodgers is too competitive to sit out a full season. Plus he isn't getting any younger and he'd be throwing away one of his few remaining seasons where he has a chance to get another Lombardi Trophy.
