Only 26, wow. I agree he is going to be looking for $30 mil/year. He's not a match for GB because 1) the current LB group is playing well and isn't a cap problem, 2) it would take draft picks to get Parsons and that almost never works out, and 3) to your point, offseason effort by Gluten needs to be rebuilding the CB group. He did it with the safeties. Get a solid FA and draft well, again.

CB is the weakest link on the D. There's JA and then everyone else, just guys. And JA doesn't suit up much. It's time for a rework. Some guys will come back, but everyone in that group is expendable.

The issue Green Bay has with the mindset of trading Jaire - which to be fair perhaps a new scene for both sides would be a good thing, is we have arguably no CB2 let alone anyone to take over CB1.

Everyone knows I am not against the thought of trading Jaire...but only to the AFC as I want to never face him or very rarely because this dude is one of the best and still couple years from being 30.

How much longer does JA have on his contract? He is very good when he plays, but he doesn't play. And because he's been hurt so much, when he does play he's afraid to wrap up a ball carrier.

Gluten needs to remake the CB group as he did with the Safeties last year. If someone will take on JA's cap hit, that and any draft pick would be worth the trade imo. Just like when P. Smith was traded to the Steelers.

You're right on all accounts re: JA. As far as I'm concerned, there's JA and just a bunch of guys. Gluten will address that in the offseason.

The best thing about what Gutekunst has done recently is that he has continually worked to get us to the point this coming offseason where our cap will be able to afford getting some players. Good bye Aaron Rodgers and David Bahktiari contracts.

Like I said there are always a few teams economically foolish enough to make the trade. The GM just has to watch when teams are vulnerable. Remember the Herschel Walker trade. I honestly think JA may have a short career. Physically, he cannot hold up play after play, game after game. Honestly in this day and age less than twenty million for half a season and playoffs for a CB1 is arguably a deal.

Dissagree with that statement. Our Corners even sans Jaire look pretty damn passable when our pass rush doesn't suck. And it's sucked for long stretches this year

Edge rusher is the weak link on the D. Get a legit stud rusher and alot of the concerns about the CB room fade

Gluten has traded players but mostly for draft picks or because they were problem children Randall trade.
He generally doesn’t trade player for player he likes those draft picks.

Yeah and even trading P Smith this year added some significant future cap room. My guess is that he spends big on a FA CB in the offseason and then focuses CB in the draft. A solid Edge guy would be welcome as well. Depends on how much he wants to spend, who is available, and the price.

Yeah even at his current level of play - promising but inconsistent - he's way above MVS. I'd like to see MLF draw up some plays that get Watson open on routes in the middle of the field. He's proven he can get separation on long routes, and he can work the sideline very well. Getting him the ball in stride where he can get some serious YAC is next. That's also his path to becoming a #1 WR. He's not there yet.

This is basically how I feel about Jaire. Given his inability to stay on the field the last 2 years, I don't like his current contract. However, he is the best CB on the roster right now and the Packers don't have another CB that screams "high end starter" to me. Even if they use their 1st round pick in the draft on a CB, are you going to make him your starting CB on day 1? So if they are planning on purging JA, they are going to need to sign a high end CB in free agency. If that happens, then they have leverage on JA and can say "Redo your contract, to reflect your last 2 years or we have to part ways."

The good news for the Packers is that JA isn't due any sizable roster bonus when the new league year starts in March. That should allow the Packers to sit idle on him (unless a great trade offer arrives), shop the free agency market, go through the draft and THEN make their JA decision.

Unless I am missing something, Gute and the Packers would be absolutely nuts to cut JA before the draft. I would even say that you hang on to him, until final cutdowns and then make a decision, unless he agrees to a favorable restructure or a solid trade is made. Of course, if he suffers a major injury between now and Sept., then you cut bait.
