I hate to think what would’ve happened if Geno hadn’t gotten hurt. We‘ll make the playoffs, but just not ready for the big boys imo. Good road w tonight, though.

Love is singlehandedly making this a competitive game; his miss on an open receiver in the last series plus the fumble by Jacobs and then another 3 and out is forcing the D to be on the field way too much. His 2nd half is atrocious and he continues to show a lack of game and clock management as QB1. Yea, he may be the next great one but frankly his stats are pedestrian, his play is uneven, inconsistent and decision-making questionable way too often.
You make some really good points, i think.

I had some time to kill the other day, and broke down some numbers. I was a little surprised to see that statistically, Love is having a somewhat better season than last year overall. There are a couple of areas where he's dropped off a bit (INTs, for example), but by and large certainly comparable and maybe a bit better - especially when you consider the injuries.

But that's just speaking statistically. If you go by watching the games, it doesn't look as though he's a better QB. It looks as though he's taken a step back, in fact. I think what we're seeing here is that he's still making a lot of the brilliant plays he was making the second half of last season - but his consistency is lacking. Because he's making more mediocre plays than he did last year, as well.

FWIW, his QB rating is up slightly from last year, and is 128.53 so far tonight (and 96-something for the season). He's got some kinks to work out in his second year, and I honestly think part of the problem is he is trying some things that he wouldn't have risked last season. And finding out the hard way which of those things work and which don't.

Hopefully he works that out of his system by January.

Edit: and I think part of the reason that a lot of us feel a little disappointed in him was because after the way he finished last year, we were expecting a lot more of him this season - a huge leap forward. And for whatever reason or reasons, that simply did not happen.

So even though he's probably a better quarterback than he was last season, he's not as good as we expected him to be this year. But when we measure him, he seems to come up short because we're not comparing him to who he was in 2023 - we're comparing him to who as lot of us expected him to be in 2024. And he ain't that man.

=====================
Oh, Matt, come on... give Jacobs his 100 yard game. He's earned it, and he's only 6 yards short.
