Apparently Bojoroquez was PFF top ranked punter last year and also had the single longest punt in the nfl last year. Sure upgrade over Scott.

In general, I don't like the idea of swapping draft picks to get a punter. But this deal is absolutely worth it. Scott had some good moments, but was far too inconsistent and that's just not good enough for a team that is competing for a championship.

This was a very solid move by Gutekunst.

Hekker is also awesome on fake punts. The picks are 2 drafts away. Who is the new holder? I like the trade.

I'm glad that they got a different answer at punter, and it sounds like Bojorquez has a huge leg, but I'm trying to figure out why Buffalo moved on in the first place? And why did he land with a team that has a high end, established punter already?

His stats make him sound like one of the best punters in the league, but he was somehow available for next to nothing in a trade. So what's the catch? Does he struggle with directional punting? Is he not a good holder? What's the deal?

Why did they trade him?
I wondered that as well. They do have Johnny Hekker, but this guy seems to have better numbers:

Hekker, 31, a four-time All-Pro entering his 10th season with the Rams, reportedly agreed with Rams management to restructure his contract, which was the biggest among NFL punters.

Hekker averaged a career-low 45.6 yards a punt in 2020.

Oh well, works out for us.

I had high hopes for Scott, but I agree it was time to move on.

I can understand why they would choose to keep Hekker, but why did Buffalo move on in the first place? And when they did, why didn't he land with a team where he could legitimately compete to start?

Great questions and it will be interesting to see how this plays out but I'm with you. It feels like there has to be a catch. Who knows, maybe Gute pulled off the trade of a lifetime and the Pack will be set at punter for years to come.

Quite a head scratcher. The guy must be an absolute ***hole or something.

His punt average last year of 50.8 was the 4th best in NFL history.

My reaction was similar to Dantes: why did he go to the Rams? I can understand the Bills not tendering him. From what little I've looked into, Bojorquez was a restricted free agent with the Bills when they decided not to tender him. Supposedly there was a break down in negotiations between his agent and the Bills, so he became an unrestricted free agent. Bojorquez' RFA tender was at around 2.1 million and they signed Matt Haack to a 3 year deal for less money than that.

It's possible that, given Bojorquez' incredible year, that his agent severely overplayed his hand and the Bills simply said thanks but no thanks.

Why he went to the Rams, I cannot say. But I've read where the race between Hekker and Bojorquez was super tight and potentially the only reason why the Rams went with the incumbent Hekker is because he agreed to restructure his contract. I'm sure that was the deciding factor into which punter they ultimately kept.

He could've definitely went elsewhere. Maybe he's so competitive and confident in himself that he wanted to beat out a proven punter. Who knows.

Ultimately, however it happened, I think the Packers might've caught lightening in a bottle.

Hope the dude makes it. I hate going through 3 punters in one year. Sometimes I wonder if part of Scott's inconsistency was that since our offense marched down the field so well the last 2 seasons that he did not get enough game reps. When we faced a D like Tampa that could slow us down he was flat.

I like that explanation. That's a better scenario than anything I came up with.

Eversol on radio said he was an ordained minister.

I think this was a great move by Gute. We shall see what comes of it.

Hekker was always a 4th down threat to run or throw. That is still a feather in his cap.

Caught lightning in a bottle trading for a punter that was within hours of being out on the street? Good God this preseason cannot end soon enough
He'd have been subject to the waver wire and likely claimed by someone ahead of us with those stats

From a stat perspective, cause you know I like numbers to back it up..
Buffalo failed to pronounce his name correctly 96.7% of the time and failed to spell his name 99.2%. The RAMS got so frustrated with his name they sent him with a 7th rounder just to sweeten a deal that was already made. MVS 99% agreed to teach everyone his proper name pronunciation and a deal was struck.
Had they just stuck with his childhood nickname CB? He’d still be in Buffalo

I 100% recommend he be CB
