Apologies if the wrong section, but a watching Packer games question so.. :)

Question for cord cutters...

Wanting to rid myself of cable bills so, would rather go a different option. In Milwaukee area so, over the air antenna should pickup the Packer broadcasts (unless something I'm missing?) but indoor signal is horrible so, that means an outdoor mount which I might have to pursue.

The various streaming options out there - Hulu, Vue, Sling, etc... do you get the local broadcast or is it blacked out because of streaming rights? (I'm seeing people complain about the preseason games being blacked out, but not seeing comments on regular season)

Curious as to others in Wisconsin and their experience with cord cutting and watching games...

I use Playstation Vue I live in FL but Vue has ability to set your location so I set mine to Milwaukee and I was able to get the Regular season Packer games. I would probably assume you can get pre season too.

I've had PS Vue and DirecTV Now, both streaming services (cord cutting). PS Vue is good. Never had a problem with reception, since an antenna isn't required. DirecTV Now is the same. If you have a Roku or Amazon Firebox or Firestick, I would also recommend paying for (only) the channel app for Fox Sports. Picture is great, nice menu, and of course Fox is the home for Packers' broadcasts. You could also pay for the ESPN app for MNF games. These streaming services are really like buying a tailor made suit (cord cutting) as opposed to a suit off-the-rack (cable). In this case, the tailor made suit is cheaper and less of a headache.

I live 5-8 miles from the Green Bay TV towers. We can't get cable and the satellite is on or off depending on my mood that year. You can't stream on dial up. I never miss a game.

I thought the Fox 11 tower was in Oconto Falls...without an outdoor antenna i can't pull Fox in freegin' Oshkosh...drives me nutz. Hate ATT, so I'm stuck with Spectrum.

Wife won't let me put up a pole antenna because they're "ugly".

I don't know about the other pay options and haven't tried them.

Put the antenna up in your attic, if that's an option. Unless you have a metal roof, it should work just fine.

Yeah as really when the locals do the broadcast, it is usually adding that local flavor. Not on national TV but they know the team and have access to them.

we live just outside Appleton and had an indoor antenna, I had to move it about 4 feet from where it normally sat and turn it even though it was "omnidirectional" and we'd get FOX. it was a PITA. in the other position all the other broadcast stations came in, except FOX. So pretty much every sunday I'd have to move the antenna and reprogram the TV. it would find FOX, but none of the others and then when the games were over, re-program so we'd get the other channels back and lose FOX.

anyway, we got a smaller outdoor one and put it up on the roof, for 1 week it pulled in everything around from GB and Wausau then it quit. after much frustration i took it down and figured I was done with it. we ran new cable thru the house, new connections a new booster, no booster and direct line etc. took it down and my dad was like, Just walk around in the yard with it. The best spot for it was strapped the railing on our deck tucked up next to the house of all places. can hardly notice it's there and it gets everything OTA.

All because i have a thing against Cable and cable news and refuse to pay money for tv I won't watch.

These people tell me different,

Note, they are trying to sell you an antenna but their chart is handy.

Click on the above and enter your address or just a zip code. It will tell you what stations are in your area, how far away, and where to point. I use an outdoor bow-tie like shown in the following link. Relatively small unlike the Yagi antennas. I'm about 40 miles away from stations in Little Rock, AR and it works great.

I used Vue (still have it) last season and it was great. This season though I'm not sure if it will be as good for Fox games since Sinclair and Vue have a big dispute going on right now. Vue does have the national Fox stream and I'm assuming it will broadcast the local game on that station based on your location. The other option is to login to the Fox Sports Go App with Vue credentials.

I've tried DirectTV Now as well, which has all the locals for NE Wisconsin, but the reliability isn't as good as Vue, especially during large audience events like NFL, Walking Dead, etc.

Another option you might want to do on a trial basis is FubuTV.

I was having trouble finding Packers games without going to a bar since I cut the cord too. But I've found a few ways around it now of you're out of Wisconsin If you are a student, you can get Sunday ticket for $99 without needing satellite

There's also a VPN changer that can help simulate to where they are showing the Packers games for that day
