It had to happen but it's only the start. We need to evaluate the whole structure, a clean sweep in my opinion.

We also need to address the elephant in the room and that is Rodgers is not head coach or the offensive coach and he needs to follow instruction and fall in line or this situation of a fragmented offence will occur again.

He “built” a team that backed into the playoffs, got hot and won it all. That’s wonderful. That’s the extent of his resume with Favre and Rodgers as his QB? Yeah.... color me not impressed. Ozzie Newsome did it twice with Trent Dilfer and Joe Flacco.
Please enlighten me on the wonderful accomplishments that you have made in life... Of course when you are done... don’t be surprised when we all laugh at you and wonder why you darken so many doors.

Married 37 years to the same wonderful woman. 3 children all living great lives. 4 beautiful grandsons. Successful military career followed by success in business. Retired very comfortanly at 55. On the downside, my golf handicap is stalled at too high a number. Thanks for asking!!

Hmm sounds like self aggrandizement to me... anyone as critical of others can’t possibly be that successful lol.

About time. After we lose to a bottom tier team, at home. This was finally the last straw. Thanks for the SB win, but we've been terrible for years.

Like many here, I'm surprised by the timing, but not by the action itself. He's been a dead man walking for awhile now.

I do believe this is in the best interest of the organization going forward. At the same time, I do feel for Coach McCarthy and his family. This has to be a tough time for them.

He'll likely end up coaching somewhere next year, perhaps as a HC or in some other capacity. A fresh start might do wonders for him.

Meanwhile, in Green Bay, the Pack (along with the Browns) have a head start on all those teams who will end up firing their HC in the off-season. Let's hope they make the most of it.

Yeah I saw that. This is a business after all, with no room for sentiment. And MM will be paid very, very well to do nothing next year if he chooses, or if no one hires him. He’s been mentioned for the Cleveland job. Dorsey and Wolf are too smart to hire MM. Ain’t gonna happen.

It would be interesting if Minnesota approach him with a job.

How about as a HS HC?

So far every SB winning coach who went from GB to another team did not repeat with another SB win.

We have the same record as the Browns right now.
What is that supposed to mean?
That we have the same record as the Browns right now.

I think it is going to be extremely difficult to find a HC that will “fit” in Green Bay. Rodgers will always have that “chip” on his shoulders that he runs this team. I do not foresee a HC and him ever getting along. Maybe they are best getting a DC to put in that role and have Rodgers with WITH (not for) an OC. Rodgers can be such a princess sometimes. Do not get me wrong, I love him, but you cannot tell me he has actually been trying to win since the Rams game. He has certainly lost some of my respect, as a leader of the team. I could only imagine his locker room feels pretty similar.

Obviously happy to think about the organization turning over a new leaf and REALLY want a young schematic OC to take over, but can’t really believe that they will be successful if Rodgers does not learn his role.

They did, however, get hired.

As McCarthy likely will.

I could see it taking a year or two for the stink to wear off though. He's going to need to be an OC under someone and actually go watch some college football to modernize his offense. Kind of like how Andy Reid hired Brad Childress last year and told him to go study college offenses (his job title is "spread analyst") and bring back what he learned, which seems to have worked out pretty well for the Chiefs.

Speculating some here, but from what I've heard, TT might be starting to demonstrate some early signs of dementia. I don't know to what degree that may have impacted us the last few years, but it couldn't have helped.

I'd also imagine that's why they wanted to fast track his Packer HOF inauguration while it's still soon enough for him to appreciate it.

I think Teddy's approach ran into a snag with MMs stubborness. Look at TTs picks on the offensive side of the ball and it's been pretty good since about 2012. Then look at the defensive picks in a mature Dom Capers defense and it's an absolute train wreck. I dont believe that TT was failing in his selections I think that DCs system was too complex, required too many mental checks, and that guys just were not developing in it. The persistent defensive weakness sapped strength from the offense. TTs weakness was not taking a more direct hand with respect to coaching.

Maybe.

OTH, how long was Hue Jackson out of a job?

Mathematically, there is still a chance the Packers can make the playoffs and I am pretty certain at least one poster will spend this week explaining how and why they should. Although, I think Murphy and the Packers decided that chance of Unicorns flying pigs over Lambeau Field wasn't worth keeping MM around any longer.

Good point. Of course, that may in fact be the case. It was with Favre and Rodgers is definitely showing signs of ............

If they organization lets Rodgers call the shots for the next hire, I will have no respect for him or the organization. I can see them taking his input into consideration but that's it.

Here is the math on how the Pack make it to the post.
Win all remaining games.
Atlanta: We need to win by at least 5 points.
Chicago with no less than 10.
Detroit by at least 7.
Now this is where it gets tricky.
The Pack defense has to make a goal line stand keeping them out of the end zone with 5 minutes or less in the 3rd Q and Clay Matthews has to sack Stafford with a legal tackle.
Then in the 4th, Clinton Dix comes out of the tunnel and makes a miraculous Pick 6.
In OT Rodgers throws it up for another Motor City Miracle where the ball bounces around and somehow ends up in the hands of the Ref and it counts as a touchdown since he has a sister who just moved to Wisconsin.
At the exact same time, ALL Packers fans around the world have to scratch their left buttock.
If these things don't happen, well, just forget it man.

Still surprised they didn't let him finish the season after the success he had previously. Hell, they let Thompson and Capers finish out their respective season.

I'm happy MM is gone, but I am worried that whoever comes next won't be much better. For now Philbin? I know he wont be our long term guy but he is bad. No names out there thrill me. Its good MM is gone, but bad cause no other names make me happy at the moment.

I'm sorry but I'm calling a spade a spade. This is plain stupid. No coach in the world can prevent a knee from buckling when it gets hit from the side or when a guy gets bent in half backwards. How about trying a more reasonable argument rather than mindless hyperbole?

Mark Lovat has gotten more players injured here than any S&C coach in NFL history. Nuff said.
