Coleman broke his right hand as a rookie missing 6 games then broke it again last season resulting in 7 missed games. To what extent this either limited his development, has resulted in permanent impairment and dropped balls, or whether he's simply a bust in having maxed out at the college level, I could not say.

He’s also reputedly a knucklehead.

As you mentioned Coleman not living up to being a first round pick (only 56 receptions in two seasons) was most likely the reason the Packers didn't acquire him.

I would of much rather had him over Kizer in the Randall trade, first round flop or not, considering our WR depth (and how little I think of Kizer)

For a seventh round pick in two years?! Saw a great stat on Twitter, Coleman had the greatest percentages of passes thrown his way ruled as uncatchable. The Packers NEED WR depth and they missed a great chance to get a cheap WR with enormous potential who has been wasted in Cleveland for two years.

I wonder how Monty and MVS looked retuning kicks today.
So far i think MVS probably land in practice squad. Kumerow seems to be taking his chances and doing everything right. Jmon Moore + EQ has their ups and downs but MVS have more downs than up. That family night practice rodgers threw MVS one in the endzone and he just drops it... MVS probably next Janis. Lol.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have minded giving up a seventh rounder for Coleman by any means. It seems the front office is confident in the receiving corps though.

I just find it strange how people can shout about how Kizer is actually really good but needs a decent coaching staff while disregarding how terrible QB play in Cleveland has hurt the receivers. The Packers NEED help at WR. They wouldn't have needed Coleman to put up 1,000 yards but I feel comfortable saying he could have been a better third option than Allison. Plus, as a first round pick, the Packers would have potentially had Coleman for three more years on his rookie deal. They really missed a great chance on this one.

We'll have to wait and see how Coleman works out in Buffalo. It's entirely possible the Browns never offered him to the Packers as well.

He played for a team that won ONE game his entire career. Being a knucklehead is a coping mechanism. Can you imagine how it must feel to accomplish your dream and then get stuck there?

How would you know that? I’m not claiming to know he’s a bad lockeroom guy. That’s just the rumor. How can you definitively say that those rumors are just due to a coping mechanism?

I can't figure why people are so down on Geronimo.

As camp wears on, reports on Scott’s distance and hang time are getting better. There’s no certainly until he’s facing a real rush, but all of the early indications point to a special teams weapon.

This is the time of year, or at least in the next 3-4 weeks some tough decisions have to be made on who to try and stash on the Practice Squad. Obviously, too early to start speculating, but my gut says MVS is going to be hard to stash, unless he really stinks it up during preseason. He was a 5th round pick with some pretty decent scouting reports. Of course so was DeAngelo Yancey last year and he was safely stashed, so who knows. I don't think all 3 rookies are going to make the final 53, unless there is an injury or 2. EQ is another guy I see as having a ton of upside potential, he may be the one you have to keep on the 53 because of it.

With what seems like more injuries and time off for concussion protocol, I really wish the NFL would expand the rosters to 60 or at least make the practice squad "untouchable" by other teams. Feels like by mid season, you are having to play guys who just aren't ready.

Honestly— because his Twitter feed in college was an absolute disgusting horror and he’s a marginal athlete. The former makes it hard to root for him and the latter makes it easy to dismiss him.

Agreed. Hopefully he has grown up since those Twitter posts, but hard to forget them for sure. This is the year GMO has to step up, he is having the 3rd spot basically handed to him. I generally have liked him on the field, but sometimes he appears to be a bit unfocused. Maybe more playing time and knowing this is his big chance will change all of that.

I was not aware of twitter statements. I hate to ask...but what did he say?

You can google “Geronimo Allison tweets” and find them in an article. Should be the first link. Suffice it to say, he was very clear and explicit regarding his opinions of women.

I think he will lock down the 3rd spot for at least the first half of the season, but my guess is that Moore takes it from him at some point. I would be mildly surprised if he makes the roster next season. I would think the rookies would have to really disappoint for that to happen.

As far on-field, my biggest critique is that a lot of his value to this point has come on scramble drills— extended plays where he’s known where to go and Rodgers has found him. That’s great, but in the long term you need guys who can also produce in the context of scripted offense.

If this Cole Madison fellow never shows up, or isn't in time to make the roster, I'm going to throw a dart at Austin Davis, UDFA center out of Duke, to make the roster. This is virtually sight unseen, but his profile is pretty impressive.

He's 6'4", 301 lbs. His three cone is about 80th% and his short shuttle about 70th%. Ted Thompson's success in finding good offensive linemen later than normal coincided with keeping those two metrics low. He started his final 25 college games, all at center (he took over for the Packers' own Lucas Patrick). I'm not sure if he can play guard as well, but Patrick can which would make it possible to keep a pure backup at center.

Yeah it’s not a good sign. Well hopefully he shows up. But yeah, they’d need to look for some outside help if Madison is indeed walking away. And they’re short at ILB with Ryan out for the season. Gotta roll with it.
Little early to assume we need veteran OL help. Quite a few guys currently on the roster that could possibly fill out the 8 or 9 man depth.

Thanks for not posting those here. I read them once and actually might have cut Allison on the spot just for how upset he made my stomach while reading them. Like I said in another post, hopefully he has grown up.

I could see Allison becoming very similar to James Jones in production value. Rodgers clearly feels comfortable with him. There comes a time when combine and pro day measurables become totally irrelevant.

That's true, there does come such a time. However, I don't think Allison's flashes through two seasons are enough to say that the said time has come.
