What seemed strange to me was that MVS got zero targets, but Rodgers and MFL were both saying they had complete confidence in him. haha! If confidence means zero targets, then who would want that kind of support. The truth is they have no confidence in him. Action speaks louder than words.

Stop illustrating a supreme lack of understanding of how game plans, play calling, and football in general works. MVS is not your #2 option (Jones) on offense for us, he isn't even always our #3 option (Lazard)...I'd argue he isn't our #4 either (Williams)...he is literally in a group of guys like Tonyan/Stern/Lewis/MVS/EQ. Those guys are going to get targeted on maybe 15% of the pass plays a game, sometimes the defense will remove one as an option, other times the defensive schemes will not spotlight or assist in one of them and their skillset to shine.

MVS had a heck of a game against the Bears, honestly I bet the staff would say it was a Top 2 or Top 3 performance out of him when tape is reviewed. Merely because his statline of targets, receptions and yards is 0 is not the whole story - especially for a guy operating as a teams #4 or #5 option on offense at best.

How many snaps did he get. The staff likes his blocking so he is contributing in the run game. Everyone has their role to play each week. Don’t get caught up in the #2 or #3 WR stuff. It’s not important. Players correctly executing their roles consistently is all that matters. Will be interesting to see how quickly Austin can execute his role in the offense. We’ll need him in the playoffs.

Around 70% of the snaps if I’m remembering correctly.

I say this for myself too, but anyone here saying so and so had an awful game without watching the All-22 is talking out of their ******.

I noticed him a few times blocking his *** off for some pretty nice runs in that game. Was thinking he's mixing it up a lot for someone they didn't think would play. I liked it.

Right, goes from may not play - to having his best blocking game of the year IMO. Crazy

To be fair I don't, but I don't blindly look at a mere statline to judge a player's game. MVS had a hell of a game against the Bears.

The staff and his QB seem very pleased with his progress. I’m good with that. Fan babble is meaningless.

How many games this year did MVS have zero targets? Yet the last game he had zero targets after the horrible fumble and Shepard gets cut.

The Packers went for it in 96 and it paid off. Gute and the rest are afraid and being conservative, wallowing in mediocrity. Fuller is better. Imagine the scoring AR could do with him and Adams.
the Packers were a more complete team then than now. they had a historically great defense that year.

How many games he has zero targets is irrelevant to how he did in the game discussed.

Any competent person that watched that game knows MVS had a solid game, arguably one of his best in nearly every facet except catches.

MVS dropping a big throw like that really makes it hard for guys like me to defend him.

If he doesn’t learn to use his hands... instead of trying to cradle it against his body... he is going to keep dropping those.

Been saying it for awhile, and will continue to be critical of that man, he is a 1 route WR who doesn't even catch deep balls well

The fact he CONTINUALLY has these ardent supporters is mind blowing to me

Unfortunately, I think it’s lack of confidence. He needs to be more aggressive and grab the ball with his hands ... instead he gets into a defensive posture and tries to shield the ball with his body.

I honestly don't know a soul here that thinks he is more than a support WR. It is the ignorant statements of some against him that many correct or refute.

Also far too many expect our 6th or 7th option offensively to put up Pro Bowl level production.

Fact: MVS is still very young and not polished at all.

Fact: He like James Jones in his young years, hands are not good at all yet. Uses body far too much.

Fact: He is only WR on the roster capable of blowing top off the way he can.

Fact: While his route running is not progressing as fast as many would like, his blocking has made LEAPS and BOUNDS...honestly I think his willingness to throw his body around keeps him in a deserving roster spots with the current WRs we have.

Fact: He is not presently what most if not everyone wants as our 3rd best WR. NOT even close.

He has to learn to catch with his hands. EZ also. Maybe Savage can teach them. He really has good hands. But MVS did a very nice job in blocking downfield on the Aaron Jones TD run.

ardent supporters realize what he is. He should not have dropped that ball, he's a 1 trick pony that isn't great at catching the ball, but then his 1 trick was able to get him down field and allow Jones to score that TD to seal the game. He has value, he's just not what some of you want him to be, so therefore in your eyes he's trash. Except he's not.

Honeslty while downfield there, it wasn't even probably top 5 of his blocking plays tonight. His willingness to block is gonna keep him in the fight for role

Hey mr. competence. He had one target and dropped it and one carry for a loss. Keep defending that bum. Might as well put a tight end there if all you want is blocking. I don't know about you, but I want my receivers to actually catch the ball.

Read up, broke down a bunch of facts about him. Stop expecting him to be more than he is or his role is.

Blocking out of wide position isn't the same, stop. You either are clueless with that statement or just don't know which is fine.

Lazard had an easy drop, Adams an insanely WIDEOPEN drop last week. It happens, and he rarely gets targets in our system -he shouldn't get a ton given his role in the offense.

Also the run for a loss...were you watching?? Barry Sanders himself in his prime has less than 10% chance of escaping that busted play.
