Me too he ain't the same when he was San Fran destroying us yrs ago but he would make us better for sure! But if he leaves without a contract I'd say he doesn't sign at all

Probably correct Denver is interested also.

OLB is a position the Pack is obviously not very deep at and Brooks would be a welcome addition. Ted is not adverse to signing the occasional veteran, especially this year, but not at any price. It has to be a deal he feels comfortable with. Elway, OTOH, has been known to go for broke.

There are a certain number of clowns who are going to call for the release of anyone who doesn't perform immediately and/or who they didn't personally want the Packers to draft. Part of the time, they are going to be correct that player X is a bust because some players don't pan out. Other times they will be wrong, but they'll make sure never to bring those guys back up again.

Sort of like those that constantly want to give underperforming players more opportunities? How often do they acknowledge that their support was misplaced?

Yeah, we crazies who think you shouldn't cut high draft picks after one season... we're just a bunch of silly *****es.

Seems like every year around this time, many of us are trying to guess which player(s) are going to step up their game and which player(s) are maybe on the decline. Obviously, at the end of the season, if you look at how all those players did, I think TT and the coaches to some extent are purely speculating those answers at the start of each season as well. No exact science on who will get injured, who will step up and who will step down.

Maybe "thread worthy" fun material, where posters can "put their money where their mouth is" after the final 53 is released. Make 3 lists of predictions.
  1. Players on the rise.
  2. Players on the decline.
  3. Players to remain the same.

On a serious note, I feel there is too much upside to let him go at this time. We need to give him time to develop. Look at me, 5th grade was tough, but the third time was the charm!!

I don't think he merits a roster spot in most situations. That's me as a fan. Me as a personnel guy, he definitely stays on the team and gets 1 more year, possibly 2 to develop. That is due both to his upside, which has not gone anywhere despite being covered by a patina of bad performances these last two years, and the fact that we do not have anyone else on the squad who has shown enough to make the opening of the roster spot worth the risk of losing the depth, quality of said depth aside.

I want him gone because I don't think he is going to develop (though I want him to develop more than I want him gone). I know he will stay because we need him. I just wish we weren't in a position where he best fit that need out of who we have.

If the time was 2015 and Jason Spriggs was a late round pick, he probably doesn't make the final 53 and possibly lands on the PS. But given the current lack of depth on the OL and the draft resources used on Spriggs, I think he is a lock to make the final 53. I doubt there are any Packer fans who don't want the guy to succeed, but a bit like Randall and Rollins, some of us are wondering if he will. I hope I can look back at this thread in a few years and say "yup, I was one of those guys who didn't know and look at him, he is a Pro Bowler!"

I keep coming back here hoping there's info. on Ahmad Brooks visit, only to find Jason Spriggs discussions. There IS a Spriggs thread, just a few underneath this one.;)

Brooks isn't due into Green Bay until tomorrow, so I doubt you will read much new news on him. Rumor has it, they are dressing Spriggs tomorrow to Welcome Brooks to Green Bay, he should slip right through to the front office.

Sounds like he left Green Bay w/o signing,...not encouraging news as you think they would want him to stick around and get into Camp,... UGH.

Source? Everything I have seen states he isn't due into Green Bay until tomorrow. Even the idiot who posted right before you thinks that. :coffee:

Saw this. He would've been a welcome addition here. We need olb and ilb help!
I felt the same and I liked Ragland coming out of Bama, but have no idea how his recovery from the torn ACL went. Considering we spent 4th rounders on both Martinez and Ryan, I wouldn't have flinched at the same for Reggie.

Can't help but think that's a price I would be willing to pay.

Hopefully we'll sign Brooks though.
Brooks will cost more in salary, but nothing in picks, just the kind of deal that might tempt TT if the price is right. Brooks is also a very short term rental, Ragland could turn out to be a very good long term player for the cost of a 4th rounder.

With Clay now having a mystery injury, I'm fully convinced they're going to sign him.
