Great guy, loved him when he coached for the Pack. Brought a great spirit... was surprised when he left as a coach.
RIP

I'll never forget that pep talk he gave Matthews in the SB that resulted in a fumble the next play.

It is time.

RIP Greene. You will be missed.

Damn he will be missed. He brought really high energy to the defense and his pep talk in the SB was what helped win the day in getting that fumble recovery.

That's my favorite memory of him for sure. I get tingles thinking about it now. Someone who played the game the right way. Way too young.

I'm in shock. One of my favorites on and off the field. God bless and rest in peace.

One has to wonder if his true rationale for leaving coaching was because he knew something was on the horizon. Even if not, I am glad that he got to spend more time with his family before passing.

I remember Kevin prepping for the 1996 title game at Lambeau. The Panthers were a new team in the league but Greene was still a handful. He seemed to be the only player from Carolina that enjoyed the 3 degree gametime temp. I just looked it up and found a good article, written from the Panthers perspective, that was published four days ago....just before our game on Saturday:

Any word on the cause of death? It seems like it came as an unexpected shock to people who knew him.

Always a romantic, the speech to Clay gave me chills today listening to it. The intertwinings of lives is forever amazing.

Thanks coach, it is time. RIP

Well, a heart attack is one of the best ways to kick the bucket. At least nobody had to see him deteriorate slowly.

As for why he left, I was just going off my memory from media reports at the time that he wanted to spend more time with his family. Did he get that position or was he just relaxing the last few years?

He had interviewed for a spot at a school in the south maybe?
I recall they went back east for a bit and he went to coach for jets
