nothing, hope he's back quickly. We may have something in the middle with him and Kamal back. 2 guys that can actually hit someone.

I believe that we were talking about guys that could actually hit someone... :-D
I sure hope you are wrong about that. I really don't know much about him so I am willing to start clean with him.

From what I've seen of Barnes, and although a very small sample size Martin, I'd rather have them on the field than Kirksey from what I've seen of him.

Well the good news, for once we have some options at a position that has been terrible for way too many years. That isn't me saying that it is fixed, but at least we have healthy competition between 3 guys that are all showing some talent and if one gets hurt, a capable backup. Summers so far hasn't done much to impress me. I haven't watched any of the Giants games, anyone know how Martinez is playing for them?

Pff is grading Martinez out as one of the best ilb in the nfl especially against the run

Kirksey is better in zone than the young guys. The game is still running just a bit fast for them in that aspect.

That may be, but I can't say i've missed him one bit. Forgot we were even trying to replace him, seemed so easy.

Like I said, I haven't seen him at all this year as a Giant. Didn't PFF give him decent grades as a run stopper when he was a Packer? Shows you how "accurate" grades sometimes aren't'. But like I said, I haven't seen him, so maybe he is playing better in the Giants scheme? That was mainly what I was trying to find out. Obviously, at $10M/year, the Giants liked what they saw of him, I'm just glad the Packers didn't try to match it.

Martinez was a very good ILB. He made plays all over the place but was average in coverage. He wasn't a great fit for Pettine's defense but he is showing that he will play hard for whomever he plays for.

Kamal Martin was great as a Golden Gopher when he was healthy. If he stays healthy, we have a thumper that can also cover. Barnes seems to be solid as well so hopefully we do have options. I wouldn't mind a rotation with Kirksey if all three can stay healthy.

The idea of a Kirksey/Barnes/Martin rotation is an amazing one to me. Throw in Summers in a reserve role (great depth guy) and I've not had this much comfort in the ILB as a whole in a long time.

It’s better than it has been in a while.

I’m nitpicking bc he’s pretty far down the depth chart, but Summers sucks. I can’t wait to see him gone.

Every team needs a Summers though, rookie contract can fill in when needed, is a roller coaster when in there and not steady. He does do admirably on ST.
