James Jones reminded me of Don Bebe when we lost Robert Brooks for the season. He was also good in a cast of good characters, but couldn't do it himself so Ron Wolf had to roll the dice with Bad Moon Rison.

Don Beebe.....now there's a name from the past. But Beebe was one of the fastest guys you will find in the NFL (4.21 40). Some might try to have you think Jones runs 4.21 yards in 40 seconds.

Personally, I don't think enough people give James Jones his just dues as to what he did in 2015 for the Packers. He lead the team in receiving yards, tied with the most TD's, had the highest yds/catch of starters by 7 yards (Jones: 17.8 Cobb: 10.5) all while being brought back last minute, typically drawing the other teams #1 corner and playing on an out of sync offense much of the year.

If I had my wish, Jones would be resigned close to Vet Min. without a lot of guarantees and if he loses his job to one of the younger guys, so be it. But I get it, he needs to make room for the speedier unproven youth, I just hope one of them fills his hoodie adequately in 2016.
I agree, he earned a chance to earn a spot on the team in camp. I'm surprised that someone hasn't picked him up. He is still a solid 2nd or 3rd receiver.

James did a tremendous job with the Pack last season and it sucks that he won't be a Packer this upcoming season. BUT...letting him walk and giving the younger receivers a chance is what is best for this team in the long run. Hopefully we see James again in the future as a coach.

The OG. Imagine our past season without him. Best of luck, JJ.

I feel bad for James. I like him and thought he did a good job.

There's no denying Jones did a fantastic job in several games last season but completely disappeared in others. With Nelson hopefully coming back healthy and some youngsters in line for more playing time there's no reason to bring back Jones.

It's a tough business. James Jones, by all accounts, is a really good guy and has made some phenomenal catches over the course of his Packer career. I hate to see him go, but this is a young man's game. It's time.

I'm not liking how the media is trying to make the Packers look like the bad guys in all of this. It's like JJ said, "It's a young man's game" and while I thank him for his service, his staying on the roster would only inhibit the growth of the younger players that we need to make a jump.

I only wish TT had a little bit more of a, shall we say, 'human' element where he called guys like Jones personally, explained the team's direction, and graciously thanked them for their service. I think that would go a long ways, and from what I've heard, he isn't good about doing things like that at all.

Other than that, I agree 100%.

Without Jones, Janis and Abbrederis would have had to continue their apprenticeships on the field. That would not have been good for the early games, and may have caused the Packers to miss the playoffs, but looking at how those two players progressed into the last playoff game, the Packers would probably be in better position now had that happened in accelerating the young guys' development. There is no substitute for regular season game action in moving guys along the development path.

Given 2016 is the year before getting into rebuild-on-the-fly mode, backing-and-filling with Jones last season was not an unqualified positive.

I feel like Janis and Abbrederis are holding us back by the Packers waiting an eternity for them to progress. I honestly think teams knew they were scrubs and didn't give them enough diligence which led to some exciting plays. I would rather we dump both, keep Jones until he has a definite drop off or retires and let Montgomery progress; he's more of the future than either.

Interesting take. IMO, both Janis and Abby are going into make or break years.

2 seasons is an eternity? Janis isn't going anywhere. It would be really dumb to invest in his potential like we have and now go ahead and dump him when he shows signs of realizing that potential.

Janis is worth keeping strictly based on Special teams play let alone what he can offer as a receiver as he learns the position at the NFL level.

This coming season will tell the tale for Janis at least. I don't think Abby was ever looked at as a long term piece here. He is essentially a slot WR and that role belongs to Cobb. Abby IMO has always been looked at as a backup who will come in and play spot duty at times.

I would agree that this season is critical for both Janis and Abbredaris - if they don't make the leap this year, their time as Green Bay Packers will likely be at an end.

I just hope they are given every opportunity Adams is and don't get playing time relative to their position in the draft.
