Shaqiri is going to Inter for 2 million on loan then 12 million to seal the deal and more money if Inter Milan qualifies for Champions league. I'm happy for him. He's a talented player and a lot of fun to watch. Pep just didn't have room for him in his system, which is a shame. But I'll be excited to see how Shaqiri lights it up when he has center stage.

He had center stage in the World Cup for the Swiss, but was kinda disappointing.

Didn't he score three goals in one game during the World Cup?

For a team ranked 7th in the world... they looked quite bad in the Group of Life. They had the easiest group and didn't look great qualifying.

Where are Hansa Rostock these days? Used to enjoy watching this team years and years ago, when you could pick up German football freely - until Sky encrypted the boxes. I'm sure Olaf Thon played for them at the time. He was a marvellous little player.

Hansa is a third tier team nowadays and highly in danger of being relegated again and even going bankrupt. To be honest I dont like them and I never did.
I've been to Rostock with my wife for a HSV away game once and it was the one and only time I really felt uncomfortable and even unsafe as a visiting fan.
We were accompanied by police the whole way from the parking lots to the stadium and later back. I dont miss experiences like that to be honest.
But it's a pity that none of the former GDR/DDR teams had any success in our Bundesliga.
Unfortunately Olaf Thon never played for Rostock, I'm afraid you must have confused him with another player ? ;)
Didnt know that Bundesliga could be watched on free TV in UK then, we barely could watch British Football before Sky (Premiere) startet to air the EPL.

Boy this winter break thing is a real drag.
Oh yeah...I'm desperately waiting for the breaking news that they got get rid of Jansen (to Benfica?), Arslan (Gala, Fener?).
We need money to sign another striker and a midfielder. But apparently a striker is most needed
Rumours say that we are in talks to sign Drimic, a Swiss National who is warming the bench at Bayer....

Must have him cconfused. But he was a cracking player.
Yes, we could get Bundesliga back in those days free. The boxes we had when Sky was first introduced in 1992/93 picked up a number of German channels. Couldn't watch the live games though because German tv encrypted them.
After a couple of years Sky updated their boxes and this privilege was gone. Bundesliga is still available on English tv, but not on Sky subscription - we need to subscribe to BT, but the pundits they have are pretty useless on their channels so I don't have it.

Yeah, Olaf Thon was pretty good. He became legend because of his debut against Bayern where he scored three goals in a 6-6 draw.
We need to have a SKY subscription if we want to watch the EPL or Bundesliga live. But game summaries are shown on free TV at 18.30 on Saturday evenings. What pundits do they have on BBC ? Robbie Savage ? Or is he working for Sky ?
I think I've seen Gary Lineker on BBC....or am I wrong ? I somehow like him.

BBC rotates pundits for Match of the Day Robbie Savage is back now and again i like him now i used to think he was a total twit but hes got much better. Alan Shearer for me is similar, could not stand him as a player or a pundit but hes more realistic now. Phil Neville is however dishwater dull boring i turn the volume down or the TV off when hes on. His brother Gary on Sky is much better. Lineker is ok hes like wallpaper always there. :D

Don't watch much football on BBC. Not match of the day anyway - hardly show any football -more analysis that is really second rate. Most of it by ex-managers who didn't do a very good job when they were in football themselves. Prefer Sky footie, although they have some lightweights too like Kris Kamara and Jamie Redknapp ( who? I hear you ask! ).

Watching the awards show. I'm always very impressed with how effortlessly so many Europeans switch between several different languages. Since we are bordered largely by English speaking people, we don't have the need to know so many languages here. Yet I sometimes wish we learned several different languages here as well. I learned German in High School, but not to a level of fluency. I can get along, but I can't speak it effortlessly. Other than that, I don't know any other languages (except several ancient languages).

Germany was winning just about every award, until that crybaby7 won for the men's best footballer. Screw him.

Yeah it was a foregone conclusion. It would have been great to see Neuer get it, but when was the last time a Goalie won the award? As much as I don't like that Ronaldo won it again, I can't begrudge him the fact that he's done some very charitable things outside of football. He's a great player too. I just wonder if he would be as great playing for some lesser team?

Honestly, I can't stand CR7 and as you know I'm far away from being a Bayern Munich fan.
But if a player deserved the award it's Manuel Neuer. He is by far the best goalie worldwide and - not typical for Bayern players - a humble and pleasant person. I'm disgusted by this vote for crybaby CR7.
Lets talk about a more pleasant topic - Kate Abdo is hot....

ABCR7 anyone but him would have been ok to win, even Neuer yes ill admit it here and now he had a great season with both club and country. The Real Madrid poser is too much.
