I'm not a talent evaluator. I don't watch college games so I couldn't tell you about prospects beyond their numbers and professional evaluators opinions. So which one? Dunno. Just make it the right one cause we could use both positions.

My last mock had me amend my earlier rounds from page 5 (without discussion):

1st Round: Queen (ILB)
2nd Round: Mims (WR)
3rd Round: Fotu (NT)
4th Round: Claypool (WR/TE)

Just ran a 4 Rd mock and it came out mind numbingly woa. This is HIGHLY unlikely to the point of impossible but hey, its what it was. I had the choice of getting Zach Braun in Rd 2 instead of my pick and almost did, but this wild vision stuck in my head and went a different direction.

30: R1P30 - WR HENRY RUGGS III (ALABAMA)
62: R2P30- RB JONATHAN TAYLOR (WISCONSIN)
94: R3P30 - LB TROY DYE (OREGON)
133: R4P30- LB JORDYN BROOKS (TEXAS TECH)

Comments:

Rd 1 - Ruggs isn't going to be there at #30 I know, but here he was. No brainer.

Rd 2 - Taylor, (otherwise known as Mr. Fumbles) is also known as one of the best at his position otherwise. I think the possible upside, his ability to give Jones some rest while keeping a lethal weapon on the field, beside how absolutely scary it would look with both in the backfield at the same time. Add to that the extended shelf life of AR and a reduced dependency on a top flight passing game all make this a solid pick. KEY: If he can learn to hold onto the football

Rd 3 - Speed at ILB that can cover the field. Not much for shedding blocks so we would have to upgrade the DL in FA to help Clark out but he's got speed and coverage ability.

Rd 4 - Another solid player at ILB who makes plays.

After this far in the draft, we would have taken care of a whale of needs for weapons on offense and speed in the middle on defense. No TE, OL or DL so far here but we have 6 more picks afterward and TE won't be as important with Ruggs and Taylor in town.

Now back to reality . . .

My prediction from Page 5 performed VERY WELL. His 3 cone, 20 yard shuttle and vertical were second best at the TE position (outdoing my favorite Kmet in two of those). His 40 at 4.75 is solid figure for a TE to boot.

My original assumption of him making it to the 6th could be pushed now...he tested very well and my hidden gem may not see past the 5th depending. He will interview well for teams which will help as well.

Sixth Round - 192nd Overall: Charlie Taumoepeau, TE - Portland State *Here's where my bold prediction card is played and sees us not get a TE until the 6th. I truly think Gute, MLF and Company feel fairly confident with a Lewis resigning and enter the draft with Lewis, Tonyan and Sternberger in our TE room. I expect a mid to late round draft pick and one or two UDFA's to add to the mix come training camp. Charlie is raw, and not ready for immediate time for sure (what 6th round TE is) but I love the flashes he shows and grit. Not too mention that last name is just awesome.

I dunno what Gute's thresholds are for TEs....and I suspect we probably won't find out this Draft, but 4.75 to me is a 6th or 7th round guy. 5th Round only if he's plus in blocking. My personal threshold is 4.70 and under for 5th Round status. I think his small school status further keeps him down to 6th-UDFA status.

Just put it in the back of our mind in a year or two when he starts getting traction you heard it here first :)

His 3 cone shocked me honestly and shows while he may not have burner speed, his burst is good.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/02/28/report-packers-planning-a-run-at-austin-hooper/amp/

With the Packers targeting Hooper all TEs are off my mocks until further notice. Can't see us signing him and going after anyone in the Draft.
I would agree, after spending a 3rd last year and working to get him back in the game after an early injury, they obviously view him highly and coupled with a TE like hooper I don't see them bringing in another 4th or higher TE to develop.

Some will probably say I'm tooting my own horn, but I think I'm inside Gute's head. In the 3rd and 4th Round I've been consistently faced with a dilemma on what position group to bolster. If you take TE out of the mix, that changes things drastically. I'll say the 3rd round belongs to the OL and the 4th will be a toss up to DL/LB depending on who falls.

But Hooper is in the prime of his career whereas Graham is on the back end. TEs, especially Pro Bowl TEs are going to cost close to WR money as the game evolves to bigger and faster players.

Good call on Mims, but he might go first round after the combine. Even if he were available, I wouldn’t pass on Queen or Murray if they’re still on the board at #30. They should still find value at WR in Rd 2, or use FA (not my favorite way to pick up a WR in a loaded draft).

I guess it's a matter of distinction.

There were plenty of times when we had Clark and Lancaster/Lowry with the Smith Brothers on the outside. Smith Brothers technically aren't down lineman, as they were in a two point stance.

If you were watching the Packers play, I can assure you saw them in a 2-4-5, or even 2-3-6, many times.
Many times, as like probably 80%.

I highly doubt that they've decided what position they're taking in which round.

Hooper looks intriguing. He had a breakout year on a below-average Falcons team. GB has gone 0-2 recently on TE FA signings, so the third time has to be the charm.

Another advantage, Gluten can focus on ILB and WR in the draft. And Sternberger may be ready for a substantial step up in production. I’d have no problem with Hooper, Sternberger, and Lewis as the core TE group.
I highly doubt that they've decided what position they're taking in which round.
And they won’t really know until draft night. That’s just how these things play out. It’s fun to speculate now, but it’s just that, speculation. I’d love it if they took Queen or Murray in Rd 1 - but if they sign a guy like Corey Littleton in FA, that prediction goes out the window. Anyway back to your point, not only won’t they know who they’re gonna take until draft night, the actual draft can change from one round to the next.

Latest FS mock lines up very similar to my last, same first three picks:

1st - Murray ILB....as many of us have said it is a 50/50 shot he is there or Queen...a run on WRs and QBs will help push them back possibly.
2nd - Denzel Mims WR, Baylor...we all for most part are fans of this kid, and end of 2nd appears the highest many of are on him so this pick especially given scenario we sign no one in FA and don't go WR in round 1 is a solid pick here.
3rd - Ezra Cleveland OT, Boise State....I have him as a 3rd no later guy, so if he is there at this pick it is a no brainer for me. I've predicted a run on solid OTs and see him gone by here, but if he is there I'm smiling with the announcement if it happens.
4th - Jordan Elliott IDL, Missouri - Many claim while not a first round or two guy, can and will contribute right out the gate. He excels in pushing upfield, but to be fair I haven't seen much of him and relying on others opinions it is always refreshing to hear consistent things on a player.
5th - Tyler Johnson WR, Minnesota - He is arguably one of the most known commodities at WR, sure handed and reliable receiver that many while won't say is a future #1, should have a shot at a long career as a #2-#4 throughout it. When you have a guy this late with no big red flags and solid hands it is a solid choice.

IF this is how the draft starts for us, I'll be popping a cold one or pouring a bourbon smiling into the 6th and 7th. I suspect there will be some trades changing things, but would embrace such a play out.

Boy would I love that draft.

Seems highly unprovable, but that's okay.

I've seen a lot of whispers of off-field concerns on Tyler Johnson.

Is it bad I think the hardest to believe of that mock is Ezra in the 3rd....I see Murray falling in the 1st more than Ezra late into the 3rd. I also don't sense Johnson will be there past the 4th....I've heard some whispers but don't sense much validity in them. Could change someday of course but until then I'm writing them off.

What board are you using to get Murray? I use a custom board but Murray is always gone by no later than 27th. I struggle to get Jefferson to be honest. Queen and Jefferson right now seem more realistic.

I know it wouldn't be ****, but if Murray, Queen, and Jefferson are gone by 30th I'm expecting Gute to either trade back 5-10 spots or take the highest rated OL. Mims will still be available by 42nd Overall.

Love it.....but most mocks show Murrary and Queen gone by 30. what is your next best pick there? I keep coming up with OT Austin Jackson...maybe long shot ruggs falls. I think Elliott may be gone by 4th pick. so Murray my dream but i think it could go 1st Jackson 2nd Mims 3rd Elliott DL or Brooks, Harrison ILB 4th IDL or ILB oppisite of 3rd pick. 5th best of CB RB TE

I would take all this in a heartbeat. Nice job. But I think only Eliott is there at these spots. I think Johnson looked really good at the combine and moved up quite a bit.
