See now I wholly disagree there (except the Novel part that’s a great idea!
) It matters quite a bit if David is playing in September, particularly if he came in and played 2-3 full consecutive games. It matters from 2 somewhat separate perspectives.
1. Playing ball at his usual level in September would speak to his long term recovery leaning successful (and vice versa) With him already having a substantial contract, it would be the beginning of our solving an enormous monetary puzzle chunk.
2. David’s Solving that 1 Left chunk of the OL this September would send a massive ripple effect that would immediately change the entire dynamics of our Offense. It would also buy us needed time in order to see a return of another vital piece in Elgton Jenkins.
I get that it’s been frustrating though and the terrible timing of his injury made our frustrations exponential. His being gone for 2 postseasons likely cost us a SB visit. However our past or current frustrations have zero impact on his real time health. I would even offer that our emotions (mainly fans) are largely based on the past, which is essentially outdated information, thus we error on the side of non pertinent information. All that really truly matters is where is David at Week 1, regular season and beyond. Can he string several games together without a setback? That would speak volumes, just as much as him playing and disappearing again.
